St. Henry 4 Ryle 3

Featured Replies

St. Henry pulls the upset. Somebody forgot to tell Ryle's coaches round 2 is not a guarantee. Never look past anyone ! Congrats to the Cru!

From the tone of the opening thread I take it Ziggy didn't toe the rubber for the Raiders. Who pitched for both squads?

Ryle decides to throw off and pitch their number 3 pitcher. Cost them as St. Henry puts up a 3 spot in the first and then hung on for the win!!! Congrats to the Cru and Coach Shartzer!

I see this happen so often in KY, more so than the other places I've lived and coached. I don't get why teams save their ace for tomorrow or the next day. Start with your best and pull him early if you get ahead.

That being said, Mann has plenty of big game experience, winning big district and regional games with Scott last year. He's no slouch and would be a number one on quite a few teams.

Mann pitched fine after the first inning. Imo St. Henry played a heck of a game. Hit the ball very well, pitcher was great and solid defense especially by the shortstop. Well earned win!!

Nice win, Crusaders!

Fatal, fatal error when a coach tries to play two games at once. Play them one at a time!

Ziggy or no ziggy, you have to hit to win and we didn't when it counted.

There is no tomorrow. Survive and advance.

Ryle took the Cru too lightly, Mann is a very nice pitcher but he isnt Ziggy and if you scouted St. Henry you would know their ace is a very good pitcher who always keeps them in games. Cant play in the second round if you dont win the 1st game and I'd rather go down with my ace especially if I can take him out before the 75th pitch and he can still pitch in the title game. Also didnt understant the bunt in the 7th basically giving up an out with I believe their lead off hitter.

With Zig, Raiders maybe wouldn't had to hit as much. We will never know. I think the coaches saw Beechwood throw their #4 in the game before and it worked, but St. Henry was just a little better than Beechwood's opponent , IMO.

I can see your point, but either way the coach is going to get blasted...if he pitches Zig and then they lose next game it's "He should have saved Zig for game 2 and pitched someone else"....no win situation but just a tough way to finish a year, not winning district or regional. Feel for the kids.

Nice job Cru! Keep it rolling!
