The Tigers played an excellent non-district schedule and beat everyone except Covington Catholic (a team Beechwood should never beat). Additionally, Beechwood had a nice win over Russellville at Russellville in the state semi-finals.

 

A little late 80's Deja Vu popped up in the finals against a strong Pikeville team spoiling the Tigers last legitimate chance to win a 1A Title.

 

Do you agree with a B+ for Beechwood? Why or why not? What do you think is the proper grade for Beechwood?

I agree. In my opinion this was the weakest schedule in sometime for Beechwood but most of those teams were fairly young but in 2016 I think that same schedule will be better than in 2015.

Made it to the state championship game despite losing their best returning lineman (D1 baseball) before the season started and their starting running back (one of the leading rushers in 1A in the state, also D1 baseball signee) in the playoffs. Also lost their #2 power back and starting LB to injury in playoffs. All three of these players were key two way players. Great job overcoming these obstacles and playing in the state championship game thus the A minus.

I agee 100% with VOR. Injuries are part of football, but at the 1A level you just can't replace the late season losses Beechwood experienced. Takes nothing away from a great season and great effort. State Championship gets an A+, Tigers fell just short of that.

It wasn't the tough non-district schedule NCC had, but still a good schedule that they handled very well. Easy A if they win state, but a strong performance at state gives them the A-

Take Daric Pugh and his 243 yards away from Pikeville, and BW is state champs. Tigers lose to Panthers by two scores without their #1 back, Stringer, going into playoffs (he was only leading the state in rushing at that time). That is how important one late season injury can be in high school Class A football.

Impact players being lost does hurt. Beechwood won 2 games without him. I will agree that injury throwed there since of balance off.

I know they were missing Stringer, but it doesn't change the fact that Beechwood was the very clear and well defined favorite for the 1A Title and fell short and it rather emphatic fashion.

 

The majority of the year there was only two classes where you could point and say "That Team Will Be Your Champ" and that was 4A and 1A. For Beechwood to scrape by for two rounds to get beat rather convincingly in the Finals had to feel like a letdown. They were a solid A until November.
