Well this should be a dandy. HHS is playing much better than when these two first met at Ryle awhile back. Playing with a lot more energy and focus. I also think they found some vulnerability in the game...even in a loss. They just played awful and couldn't expose it more in that game.

 

With that said, by no means do I think HHS wins. I think this is a coin flip. Ryle has been playing with confidence and swag all year. They are tested and have played multiple teams with different styles. They are long and athletic and Scherr has done a great job taking the reigns. And they finally have a coach that is utilizing their strengths.

 

Both these team's players know each other very well. The seniors from both teams have been battling in AAU since about the 4th grade. At the end of the day, all great kids!

 

Here's how I look at it.

Ryle Strength

*Athletic length.

*Basket protection on defense

*Offensive rebounding

*Unselfish Play

*Senior leadership

*Co-Player of the year in Schwartz

 

HHS Strengths

*Shooting

*Ball handling

*Defense

*Athletic

*Extremely Smart and very few turnovers.

*Unselfish

*Senior leadership

*Free Throw shooting

 

So you can see why this could turn out to be a barn burner. The floor is bigger, so does that have an effect on this game? Can Ryle play with the pressure of the regional semi game that most feel they should win. HHS has been in this game many times. Playing with swag during the season is much different than being in a close game in a one and done situation. Which team can hold their composure when it comes down to the final minutes. Free throw shooting usually plays a big part in games like this. I'm not sure what Ryle is from the line, but HHS is typically lights out. If this game stays close, I give the edge to HHS in the end. However, if HHS comes out slow and Ryle jumps up, I'm not positive HHS can catch them. (which is very possible).

 

It will be very interesting to see this plays out. It's going to stink for either team that loses because you have kids on both sides that have vested a lot of time and energy in this sport and left their mark.

Probably should be the best game of the girls region in terms of it being close.

Lol, so your saying the finals will be a blow out no matter. I hope not, but in this region anything can happen.

I think highlands can come out of there victorious, but Ryle will be hard to beat! Should be a good game!!!
