Just curious and not meant as a knock on either the coach of Bracken County or any player....why is it that some softball teams pitch their #1 over and over again-all season long-while others have a couple of pitchers work-usually the #1 will go about 75% of the time? Just interested in responses...

Agree totally especially since Moeller is the defending Ohio Division 1 champions and ranked among the best teams nationally. No dog in the fight but I would give kudos to the pitcher and the Raiders this effort. Too many fall in love with the power arms. Fastball is the easiest pitch to time and hit.

I understand what RCC is saying. I used to fight this too my man, but it really isn't anything to get that worked up about. The truth is if a 9th Region A team ever won the big tournament down state-the one in June-they wouldn't talk about the A so much. Truthfully in softball the talk is tame compared to basketball, but those schools deep down know the facts as they are. Let them have their couple of weeks of fun. Kind of like when a few upsets happen in the mens NCAA basketball tournament. It is fun for a while, but in the end, a big school from a power conference always wins it all.

Congrats to Coach Mullins and the whole team of Tigers. Has Randolph pitched this year for Beechwood? I thought he did a nice job for them last year.

Because you are always mentioning the Tomahawks, if they don't matter, don't mention them. If they do, and they must, then I am pointing out a kid who probably wasn't good enough to make the mighty Tomahawk team beat him in a crucial season ending game. (oh I know high school ball doesn't mean as much as summer ball with umpires hired by the hosting club to umpire a game at the hosting club park.)

I agree, and did last year too. That kind of talk can actually hurt a "team". Weirdly I don't think it is a relative of the three players making all those comments. One of the Tomahawks last year gave up a grand salami to a non-Tomahawk player from Dixie in the semifinals of the region and away went the Tigers dreams of winning the region.

I have asked this question before having seen Dunn pitch several times, and also I realize baseball is a team sport, but who is good that he has beaten in his career? The young man has talent-don't get me wrong as evidenced by the fact that he will play at the next level, but again which good team has he beaten? Cooper has yet to play in the region since he has been there, and this is his last shot.

Coach Gregg is an outstanding coach having both coached before and umpired too. That is a good double threat as he can tell players about things as an umpire and a coach. Future looks bright at Walton Verona. As for NCC-they will be fine-they always are. LB13 IS NCC softball, and as others have said, he always paints a fair portrait of the games for NCC whether they win or lose. He has been critical of those in his own family at times for their play-something that less than 1% of posters would do. I have seen some post on this thread about how bad the umpires were, but fail to mention that their superstar daughter had five errors. LB13 in my humble opinion is a big reason why Softball has its own thread. I wasn't at the game, but if somebody played well for NCC in this 17 to 1 loss, please enlighten us. Sounds like Walton Verona is going to be a tough team to beat for much of this 2014 season.

I think Holy Cross will be just fine. Their pitcher has improved and the little gal from Holmes will help. Not every high school player is a D1 player. BTW, I think the Indians coaching is above average for the region too, and I have nobody involved in the program.
