Thought this was one of the best played high school games I have seen in a longtime. Both teams were error free (I was greatly impressed with Boone's freshman shortstop. He made two fielding and throwing jewels to get Dixie's first two batters out in bottom of 7th.). Dixie's third batter gets plunked by an inside curveball, the next batter rips a bad hop single that almost took 3rd baseman's head off. Final batter hits a towering shallow pop up, that no one can get to. Walk off single.

 

King for Dixie and Gann for Boone pitched effortlessly. Both had great control, bite on their curve, with fastballs consistently in 85-87 range. Big problem for Dixie tomorrow? Their catcher (Caple) got thrown out in the 6th because he said something when he was called out on an attempted steal of second. It was a close play, but the ump tossed him instantly. Doesn't that mean he sits for a game?

Pretty sure Caple has to sit 2 games.

Generous description of the play at 3B on the #9 batter. As I saw it, looked like a routine grounder the 3B played off to the side rather than in front of him and went right past him. A critical point with the leadoff batter coming up. Boone OF was playing deep with runners on 1B and 2B to, correctly, prevent a double from scoring the winning run. As it turns out, that depth was exactly what allowed the runner to score from 1B. That's baseball. Cruel game sometimes.

 

Excellent effort by Dixie to hang around and work hard to allow something good to happen against a great pitcher. Excellent effort by Ganns as well.
