  1. This seems to be the question of the year. . . No records or standings to be seen - only word of mouth/BGPers. Too bad, seems like there would be quite a few who would be interested in seeing more about middle school ball if NKMSAA would post ANYThing on their web site. I am pretty sure that Ockerman 8th grade boys are undefeated for the year, as well as Gray 7th grade girls. Gray 8th grade girls are undefeated in NKMSAA games. All of the teams are down to just a few games left before district tournaments start. Wasn't too impressed with Connor's refs, they let a lot of stuff go by, and then T'd a coach up for no apparent reason. But I'd rather have the ref "let them play", than bog a game down with their whistle.
  2. That's right, Mrs CKS! And, JC may be getting more help down the stretch, as Heartbreaker mentions, now that Cheeseman is starting to play. She nearly tied JC last year as leading scorer, so Ryle has done decent without her - They have beat several ranked teams and have now lost just 3 games, all to ranked teams.
  3. Sorry, dude, didn't mean to nose in our your fun! Thought this was just banter? No offense meant, just thought I'd join in. Maybe you should start a "Heartbreaker thinks..." thread. I have several teams I follow, obviously one is Ryle. And, yeah, they stayed within 20, but got beat pretty good. No argument. Wasn't predicting them to win, hoped for a competitive game. It's all good, like you said, just a game.
  4. It's banter if you do it, but complaining if it's someone else ?:idunno:
  5. Right! And I am just putting my 2 cents in, too . . .
  6. Some of those girls are 8th graders and pretty impressive to see. And just a terrific sophomore class. Expect some good years for Bishop girls. Good luck in Frankfort!
  7. Like who? Other than Big Green Horse, who you just can't wait to harrass, who else should be eating crow? BGH isn't even a Ryle fan - just thinks they're pretty good. He has probably actually seen them play a time or two. . . However, I haven't heard anyone else predict a win against this very good Manual team. Even with their two losses they still are averaging a nearly 30 point margin of victory. Think your favorite team could stay within 20?
  8. Now, I can see that arguement, vs simply that "WV beat South."
  9. Girls played the "state tournement" over several week-ends during NKMSAA's pre-season! Dumb! Championship games Thanksgiving week-end. I think 8th grade girls team from Marion County won, but I don't believe any NKy teams attended. There are a of different schedules for MS teams throughout Kentucky. Some finish before the new year so the older kids can join in to focus on finishing out the high school seasons. Some areas have no regional tournament, so they can head down to KBA and participate in the so called "state tournament". KBA kindly puts on these tournaments, but certainly they do so around their own needs and the demands of other organizations such as AAU. The State AAU tournaments will be right after the middle schools stuff is over and goes on for months to get through each grade level, boys and girls.
  10. Well, yes, I realize that. I was being sarcastic. I am just saying one team beating another team does not instantly mean that team should be ranked above the other. On every ranking thread we hear how WV should be ranked above South.
  11. Should Owen County be ranked ahead of WV since Owen got a win over Walton? It's not JUST about who beat who, but it has been mentioned frequently that WV should be ranked ahead of South since Walton won by a whopping 3 pts. ? Sacred Heart has beat both Ballard and Butler, yet they are ranked ahead of SH. Mercy beat Manual but it has done nothing for their ranking. You got to look at who have they beat, who have they lost to, what were their margins? But, rankings just a matter of opinion; most agree that the first several teams are way ahead of the rest at this point. Next couple weeks should prove interesting.
  12. I don't know about that - Nell is, as we all know, a legend; but coach Dawn is a still a newbie on the girls sidel let's see what he can do. Last year he went further with his team than Nell did. And, although he had some nice players, he certainly didn't have a Sidney Moss to work with. As for Connor, tough to be having a surprisingly successful year when you have two Ky top ten teams in your district. I don't see Connor getting past Ryle or Boone, but this is girl's basketball, ya never know!
  13. This game was up and down until the last few minutes; Ryle played a sloppy game, but was helped by the return of Cheeseman after an injury and surgery in the summer. She saw limited playing time being only her 2nd game back, but contributed at least one of the crucial three's for 8 points total. Ryle had 3 players in double digits. Ryle only 2 losses have come from ranked teams, one of which was a close one with Mercy. They will face Manual next week. Great job Lady Cougars for a hard fought game - they are looking good this year and should have a nice future with 2 8th graders getting some time in this year. What a district the 33rd is!
  14. Hey, JC43, thanks for the info! Since you know something about nkmsaa, do you know why there is no basketball record keeping this year - it always was kind of sporadic, but it was nice to get some idea of the schools wins/losses, as well as schedule. Can't find a thing on middle school ball this year.
  15. Think I would put WV above S Oldham after beating them and giving Clay Co their first loss, playing strong right now. Ryle looks about right at #9. They beat #6 Butler and have only 2 losses in 14 games (against #5 Mercy and #12 Dunbar). Manual does look unstoppable right now; interesting to see how next four games go - all against top 10 teams. What a schedule!
  16. Teonia McCune of Fern Creek and Abby Jump from Ryle are playing at Wright State.
  17. Was Championship. Many of these tournaments use round robin format vs one and done. For example, NCC played in Cougar Championship although they had one loss in the tournament.
  18. Ryle wins the Owensboro Holiday Classic. Lady Raiders have quietly improved their record to 12 - 2 for the year.
  19. Walton is playing well, but don't believe they would beat a healthy Boone Co. However, Boone has won two close games, just getting by Montgomery and Marshall counties the last two nights - Moss apparently with sore shoulder. BGP needs a grandpa Frank update. Her status will factor big in tonight's game. Good luck to both teams!
  20. So, are there other top 10, top 25 state rankings? Boys and girls? Louisville CJ used to, can't find any longer. Am I just missing that?
  21. Not sure, but don't think so. Some played for Shining Stars. Point guard played up.
