  1. Is Corrine Brown from NDA going to play college soccer anywhere?
  2. The thing is though whether they are ready or not, there is a good chance that they will be playing regardless.
  3. No personal attack, not even a dog in the fight. I'm just pointing how having one nice player doesn't always guarentee success. Most of that 8th grade team was asked to play up, and has scrimmaged and beaten the freshman team (which the sixth grader primarily plays) easily. That group of girls (and parents) made a choice to stay together and grow together while achieving success. It's about putting players in positions where they can learn to succeed. Too many times kids are rushed ( sometimes out of necessity) and never seem to develop any further. The kids get frustrated or burn out, andnever reach their potential. It's happened at Scott and at other places, and in the long run helps no one. Why not let her play and develop with what is going to be the core of the program for years to come. Her and that eighth grade group could be developing a rapport and level of comfort together ( and achieving success). My comment isn't a reflection on her skill (she does have talent). It's about what is right for the future of the program. Besides, why annoint her the savior, and put that kind of pressure on her....she's 12 years old, and a lot can change over the next 6 or 7 years. What an absolute great post. I think a lot of times kids are rushed into something they are not ready for. It's great that Scott has a great deal of talent hopefully coming to Scott. I say that because even though they go to Woodland, they do not have to attend Scott. They can go to any other Kenton County High School or parochial school they want. And also, alot of them just simply get burnt out. Back when my daughter played in middle school, they had a nice team with a great group of girls, and they did really well with their middle school team. By the time that she graduated only her and one other girl, who did not even play 6th and 7th grade basketball were the only 2 left from her middle school basketball team. So you just never know what's going to happen. And honestly, I think a 6th, or even 7th grade girls basketball player has no business playing high school ball. And if I am not mistaken the 6th grade girls team at Woodland is undefeated, so it sounds like they have a great future ahead of them.
  4. I hope that things change for the Lady Eagles. But I don't know. They have a lot of youth, and can't retain some of the older girls, due to various reasons. I know there is a good 8th grade class at Woodland, so maybe that will help next year. But of course that's next year.
  5. Not surprised by this score at all. Any stats for the Lady Eagles? Last year when they played Boone at Boone, the score was just as bad.
  6. As A Scott High School basketball fan, I am very glad to Coach Carr is at Scott. I would love to have him coach either one of my kids.
  7. I am not sure if this is the right section to post, but I saw it on the boys basketball side. I thought it would be interesting to see how former basketball players are doing that are currently playing college basketball or recently graduated college and played as well. I know that Thomas More has quite a few Northern Kentucky girls on the roster with Hargett (Walton Verona) Dixon (Walton Verona), Kitchen ( Campbell County, Long(Conner) and Beasley (Conner). And Mount St. Joe in Ohio has Mosler (St. Pat) and Benzinger (Scott). Would love to hear more updates.
  8. Thanks for the update. Glad to hear its nothing serious. Hopefully, when Jill comes back into the line up, it will help the Lady Eagles.
  9. Why are the girls leaving the program? When my daughter played it was the same way. She, however, played 4 years, and I know if you asked her now if she regretted it, and focused solely on the other sport that she played, she would tell you no. She made great friendships playing basketball, and even though they never had a winning record, she truly enjoyed playing. And I think its great that they have a lot of young girls, but how many of those girls will stick with it, and also how many will attend Scott next year. Since Kenton County has open enrollment, any one of the middle school girls can chose which school they would like to attend. Plus you also have Holy Cross, and Notre Dame to chose from as well. As a fan, I hope they all go to Scott, but realistically, that may not be the case.
  10. Yes, I agree there should not be 6th graders filling out a Freshman/JV team. That's pretty sad, in my opinion. Actually its very sad that a school of Scott's size has to bring up 6th graders. I have not seen Buntin's name in the stats. Is she injured?
  11. Does anyone have a box score for this game, and what is going on with Scott? Not only are they getting beat, they are getting beat bad.
  12. Well, there is lot more that could be said. But I do wish the Lady Eagles success this year, and hope for the best. And yes, you are right, there was a ton of talent within that senior class that graduated this past year.
  13. I could not agree with you more, but I don't see that change happening any time in the near future. Is the junior not playing because she plays another sport?
  14. I definitely agree that Jenna Trimpe will be a positive impact to the Scott Lady Eagles. She impressed me last year as an 8th grader. Glad to hear that she is coming back. I hear that she is a pretty good volleyball player as well. And as to losing players, that's a shame, it really is. I do know the 2 sophomores that they are losing, not sure about the junior. But, honestly, it does not surprise me in the slightest as to why they are losing players. And, I think that is great that the 8th grade team is staying together. Way back when my daughter played, she had the opportunity to move up as an 8th grader and play some freshman and JV ball, but she chose to stay with her 8th grade team, and I know that she does not regret her decision.
  15. I had heard through the grapevine that a 6th grader would be playing at the high school level. Is there any truth to this rumor?
