  1. Up and down game. Nice effort NCC. Frosh Kiernan with double double.
  2. Nice job NCC. Had hoped for that! Nice come back from the all A.
  3. I think the schools themselves suffer from a lack of "school spirit"! Much less emphasis on sports than in the "old days". Kids don't seem to know when the games are - I guess the schools don't promote the games well? Most of the schools I've seen games in this year offered no program. Sometimes it is difficult to find any info on the teams or their schedules on the school's websites. There isn't any good reason for that. I guess everyone is too busy with all the other school and family activities, & solo activities (xbox, etc.), there is just a lot of competition for parent's & kid's time. Plus a bit of a drive for some. It's too bad some fans don't take part as they should. BOK is a very nice facility; ( Comfy chair vs hard bench ? Hmm? ) It's the best place for regionals, but I do miss the crazy noise and excitement of a packed hs gym for the big games . . .
  4. Wishful thinking, Bluebird fans? Dixie should have this one by 10 or more. . .
  5. So many good post on the thread, but the big question is "What happened to Ryle?" Peek early? Too much travel? Lingering illness? Some other issue under the surface? Don't know - don't have kids at Ryle, but didn't seem to be the same team as a few weeks ago. The looked relieved when the game ended. Maybe they took BGPer's advice RE "calm down" pills! And the shooting, ouch! NDA had some nice offense, taking advantage of Ryle's weak defense and poor inside game. Congrats to the Pandas! Refs that night were laughable at times on both sides. Wouldn't want their job, but I would at least try to know the rules if I did! Loved what KeepitReal said RE coaching situation. Not every girl can play for Nell Fookes - and many wouldn't want to! I am not a fan, but she does a great job taking good talent and making it great, plus taking average girls and making them very good! There are current Ryle parents that have pondered getting their dtrs in the BC program for that reason! However, in Union it seems more the norm to stay loyal to your community, stick with your classmates and get whatever coach you get. Might never win the 9th region trophies that way (or even the districts!), but there are trade-offs. Coach O does a decent job, despite softball, and despite not being Nell! But she will always have a tough job as long as NF is right up the road at BC. Such a sad time for seniors! Abby Jump is a great example of someone who took a little talent and a lot of determination and went far! 4 or 5 years in varsity? D1 scholarship? Parents with smaller, but hungry young bballers could look to her for inspiration. She will be missed at Ryle! (and why DID she sit so much of game?) Still some great match-ups left this week. I like NCC to beat NDA, then upset BC! But, Miss Moss is crazy good and BC has a great chance of going far in Bowling Green! Good luck ladies!
  6. Had an aunt that never drove out of sheer cheapness. Let all her friends and relatives drive her around to all of the grocery stores to get the great deals at each. For payment she would give the driver her change from the purchases; 6 cents, 40 cents, whatever coins she got back!
  7. That's right Shock, remember sometimes silence is golden! Maybe I can assist you here. . . Really, bballer? I take it you expected Ryle to be all hugs and kisses 2 minutes after the "thumping" they had just received from their biggest rival? I did not see ANY poor sportmanship from any of the girls on the floor that night! Ryle looked stunned and depressed as one would expect from a state top 10 team upon losing their chance at cutting down some nets for their district. I would imagine it is painful be on the receiving end of such an amazing performance from a former team mate, too! BC girls had the advantage of just winning the game, while Conner and Cooper ladies had no expectation of winning their games which were 48 hours earlier. No wonder they were being good sportsman! I saw Cheeseman and Johnson step up, take their awards, shake hands and pose for a pic. The rest of the team clapped. Can you really expect more under the circumstances?
  8. Boone did not need help from the refs on this night. Would love to see Moss (& co) shooting %... and FT's... and rebounds... and, well, all their numbers must have been fabulous! Not a Boone fan, but hat's off to them. Moss was out of this world! And, Queen Nell was still screeching and flapping arms in the 4th quarter when her team was up by 20+. Guess that is how she earned her crown! OK, Ryle, what are you going to do next week?
  9. Boone has had some nice wins, but Ryle has had some blow outs even with 2 weeks of sick players (including the Boone & NCC games). Who knows what Ryle will do tonight? But, the game means little except bragging rights and placement in the regionals. And, I agree, you can't count out NCC. Should be good regionals next week!
  10. That's a lot of rebounds! Kudos to her! How many years varsity has she played?
  11. I would think they will have the final list for all levels at the end of the day tomorrow at the announcer's table. Or try e-mail to Jason Steffen (commissioner@NKMSAA.com)
  12. Yes, it was very dramatic! Now IHM is bowing out of championship game? I heard they have girls who have prior commitment to VOLLEYBALL! What?
  13. Always great to see a NKy team go down to Louisville and bring home a win from one of their top teams! Nice job!
  14. 6th grade girls - Gray knocks of Campbell Co; Gators are undefeated heading into championship vs ? Twenhofel 7th grade girls - IHM pulls off last second win by one little free throw with 2 secs left over Woodland. - Undefeated Connor wins OT against Gray who finishes with 19 wins and only 2 losses this season - (both against Coonor) This game should have been the Championship! 7th grade boys - Gray beats Holmes, avenging an earlier loss, while Ockerman wins against Blessed Sacrement. The championship will be a re-match from District #1 finals when the Gators lost to the Hawks.
  15. I so agree! I am not fond of the revolving door style that some AAU teams have for their rosters; we certainly don't want to see that in school ball. Let the team be "the team"! Also agree that Cooper is shaping up to be a team to be reckoned with.
  16. Gray 6th grade girls cruise to an easy District #1 title; Ditto for Gray 7th grade girls in a win over Ockerman 41 to 8. Gray 7th grade boys lose to Ockerman by 5. Gray's big guys just didn't bring their game. Nice win for the Hawks.
  17. Yes, Thanks for the updates! There is just so much basketball going on, it's hard to keep up!
  18. I thought NCC played their offense a bit like Ryle did against Boone. Bartels and Theim had nice solid nights, but IMO Kiernan made the difference. Love to know how many RB's she got in addition to her scoring contribution. For a frosh to keep Crittendon as busy as she did is impressive. Some great moves by Ryle, but they were out matched; not having Jump most of the game is tough. She has been sick for the last 3 games. The region is, indeed, up for grabs.
  19. It has long been a neighborhood thing, Ryle being carved out of Boone County HS back in the 90's. When it comes to athletics, Ryle has been a kid sister to BC. They've caught up in many ways finally - football for instance. The two schools are closely interconnected. Many Ryle parents are BC grads with mixed loyalties. With Oliverio being at RYLE after being a long time softball/BB coach at Boone, and now you have the star BB player for BC who once wore orange for the Raiders... it makes it interesting for fans of girls BB.
  20. I agree on all counts! Now, that is grace in defeat, BC Dad! Just a good game to watch. If anyone is disappointed or hungry for more, wait 2 weeks and they do it all over again at Cooper! The fans were pretty rowdy on both sides - loved the BC characters! Home fans seem to get a bit nasty in a big game like this. The booing of Moss did make me uncomfortable, too, until I thought about the history there. A Ryle team-mate transferring to what the Raiders see as their biggest rival ? Moss picked a tough road to follow, but I am sure she is happy with the outcome - after all, the noisy CHEERS coming from the BC fans centered around her, too!
