Preachit Posted March 11, 2010 Posted March 11, 2010 I made my first trip to the sweet 16 today. The gym is very nice and the town seems pretty fun. I have to ask though, why are we playing the sweet 16 in the only city in Ky that is inconvenient to everyone? Does logic tell us that Louie, Lexington, or Frankfort would be better locations from the perspective of accessibility.

I was wondering the same thing during my two trips from Florence to Bowling Green?

Why does every state championship locale have to be convenient to you and not to me? Why cant there be some sports where the state title location is convenient to me?

The Scribe Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Alright. I didn't know you were so often discriminated against. :notworthy::lol: I'm just saying the state title location, no matter where it's held, is going to be conevenient for someone. As long as they are held along the I-65 and I-75 corridor, I dont have a problem with the location.

Iwas just saying that holding it in lexington or Frankfort would cut off an hour or more of driving for almost everyone in the state. But hey, it is a fun place with a fun campus.
The Scribe Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 And the city of Bowling Green has made it known they embrace hosting anything they have the facilities for. Dont be surprised to see BG make a serious bid for the baseball state tournament when the next round of bids is held.

I am still trying to figure out how Northern Kentucky got the Volleyball Championships.........and we would be happy to trade that for the State Basketball Tournament anyday! I use the term we losely!
chmafia Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Only one concession stand open....come on...do you think at the boys state tournament they will only have one concession stand open...
retropop Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Bowling Green and WKU really roll out the red carpet and warmly embrace the event with a good dose of southern hospitality. To me, it appears as though they do a great job, and I can't imagine having it anywhere else.:dancingpa
gchs_uk9 Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Iwas just saying that holding it in lexington or Frankfort would cut off an hour or more of driving for almost everyone in the state. But hey, it is a fun place with a fun campus. -I would say Bowling Green was more accessible for Regions 1, 2, 3, and 4. -Bowling Green or Lexington would be equally accessible for much of Regions 5, 6, 7, and 12. -Lexington would likely be better for Regions 8-11 and 13-16. So it appears that Bowling Green was very accessible for at least half of the state. And since we don't live in a square (size-wise) state, then there will always be some areas traveling farther than others.
