  1. Ryle just seemed a bit hungrier to cut down the nets on this one. Another epic close game between these two teams; really fun to watch the two D1 players and their strong team mates! Re-match next week? Ryle won without their starter/senior Tyianna Douthit who is likely finished with her Hs basketball career after receiving a concussion on Tuesday scrambling for a loose ball against Conner. Hope she recovers enough to enjoy cheering her team on next week. Nice crowd and atmosphere tonight at Connor for the Championship. Congratulations Lady Raiders!
  2. You left out top ten ranked team Notre Dame? This year 9th region looking pretty tough. 3 teams in top 10 most of year, plus NCC hanging in top 20.
  3. Yes, at Summit View MS, except start time for later game is set at 6:45. Championship 4:15 Saturday, Grant Co MS 8th grade girls - Semi finals at Camp Ernst MS - Gray takes on Campbell Co at 5:30 Connor takes on Woodland at 6:45 Final at 3:00 Saturday, Grant Co MS
  4. Walton advances to 32nd district Championship vs Simon Kenton at Grant County HS on Thursday.
  5. Great job by the Lady Cougars last night - they came dangerously close to pulling off the upset! Love Coach Stamm's style. Connor will be fine next year as they have some nice returning players and a strong freshman class coming in. Who knows what the 33rd will look like next year? Congrats Lady Raiders! Here you go - round 2 with Boone on Thursday. Raiders need to play their A game for all four quarters if they hope to get past Boone.
  6. For UK fan any SK win is "running them out of the building" ! Congrats to SK ladies for winning the last seven games in a row including quality wins over NCC and Conner. Seems that getting a little new blood mid-season gave the Pioneers a boost. Good luck in Districts!
  7. Girls district finals: 8th grade - Woodland beat Summit View 8th grade - Gray beat Ockerman Other 8th grade finals were between Connor and IHM, and Campbell co and ? 7th grade girls Dist #1 - Gray beat Ockerman On to the regionals! Could someone upload copy of regional brackets? I am guessing the brackets will be set up based on districts like last year instead of by seeding ? If so, that is unfortunate.
  8. Gray was without their impact player Brent Angel, a big loss, and yes, the shooting was terrible. Nice job by the Trailblazers.
  9. Hopes she feels better soon! Never a "good" time for surgery, but missing the last few weeks of the year is tough.
  10. For District tournaments boys and girls are playing at the same locations. Each district generally following the same pattern. I believe for 8th grade girls, # 1 seeds are Gray, Connor, Woodland, Campbell. Feb 13- Boys and girls - play-in games of #4 seed vs #5 seed Feb 14 5:30 Boys #2 vs #3, 6:45 Boys #1 vs #4/#5 Feb 15 5:30 Girls #2 vs #3, 6:45 Girls #1 vs #4/#5 Feb 16 5:30 Girls District Final, 6:45 Boys District Final Locations - District 1 6th @ GRay 7th @ Ockerman 8th @ RA Jones District 2 6th @ Camp Ernst 7th @ Tichenor 8th @ Connor District 3 6th @ Turkeyfoot 7th @Woodland 8th @ Twenhofel Distirct 4 6th @ Sharp 7th @Summit 8th @Newport District members from NKMSAA website District #1 District #2 Camp Ernst Conner Grant County Immaculate Heart of Mary Gray Ludlow Ockerman Saint Pius RA Jones Tichenor District #3 District #4 Beechwood Campbell County Summit View Highlands Turkeyfoot Holmes Twenhofel Newport Woodland Sharp
  11. Ohio teams dominated as they swept teams from Kentucky in Centerville, Ohiio Saturday. Ryle loses 58 to 38 to Springsboro HS (6th ranked in Ohio Division I). 10 points put up by an ailing Crittendon (missed Friday night rout of Campbell Co due to illness). Springsboro with only 1 loss on the year. Walton Verona downed by a 10 - 10 Beavercreek 56 to 47. Scott County loses to Chamale Julianne HS 83 to 54. Centerville defeats Christian Academy of Louisville 74 to 58. C'mon Kentucky girls!
  12. Yep. That stinks, but I guess you get what you pay for, and I believe NKMSAA is all volunteer ? Anyway, they do make sure the schools all get scheduled and (apparently) keep track of wins and losses as reported from the schools, and the tournaments will happen as planned with trophies and such. It is an improvement over few years ago when lot's of schools in NKY never played each other, no central organization. Just a shame they don't let someone handle the website. I think there are plenty of Basketball junkies who would do it - as a volunteer. Gray 7th grade girls had their 1st loss in 2 years of middle school ball on Tuesday in a close game vs Camp Ernst, then again on Thur vs Grant Co. Their point guard, and top scorer, suffered season ending injury early in the week. Gray 8th grade girls finished their regular season undefeated. I believe Ockerman boys 8th grade finished with no losses also.
  13. Any updates on middle school ball now that the season is coming to a close? Who won the districts in NKMSAA regular season? Will there be 2 of each district going to the regional as they did last year?
  14. Yes they attend St Mary's, and those mentioned here plan to attend BBHS. NKMSAA says you can't play 8th grade if you are also playing freshman or above, but St Mary's is not part of NKMSAA. However, they have beat Gray and Woodland (the best two 8th grade girls teams in NKMSAA) in tournaments this year.
  15. Sydney will be a game changer for the 10th region's inside play for the next 4 years. . . Very tough to defend.
  16. Paige Bosse, a junior, is listed at 6 ft. She transferred to SK over Christmas from Ryle - but she hadn't seen any varsity minutes at Ryle due to an injury last year and whatever reason this year. Nice, athletic family that have, and are still playing sports at Ryle. She has played 7 or 8 games for the Pioneers, and she has quickly become the leading rebounder and 3rd best scorer for her new team! Best wishes to her and congratulations Simon Kenton!
  17. Funny! But, nothing wrong with questioning facts/stats on this blog is there? Charter doesn't site the source of numbers - Kara played some freshman minutes didn't she? BTW, Congrats to her for her HS basketball career. I bet her dad, Jim, is having a blast this season.
  18. So true and really great to see in girls basketball! Nice pics, D-Series, and dead on summaries by you and Frank. Even with some great moments from the D1 players, the difference really was the inside game - or lack of - from Ryle. Senior Nash is so solid and Ryle has long struggled with their inside game. The turning point in the game seemed to be when the large mob of BC students began taunting Crittendon who had only scored 5 points by the 3rd quarter start; she then seemed to find her game and began scoring. Nothing against the students - stuff like that is pretty much the norm from student sections at big games like this. Moss has certainly been on the receiving end of this as well. Just thought that the timing was interesting. Refs were pretty good, I agree, Frank, although some "biased" Ryle fans might be remembering a few that weren't so "unobtrusive" especially early in the game. I have to shake my head the way the refs show Nell such deference, allowing her to touch them and looking to her frequently to see if she is wanting a time out, they even asked her several times. Very considerate! Guess that's how it is when you are a coaching legend. : ) All in all an enjoyable game - looking forward to seeing Sidney and Jenna go head to head again - maybe two more times before the season is over.
  19. Boone always seems to have the upper hand and this year looks to be no exception. Expect Moss will have her usual stellar performance. Ryle will be challenged to put a dent in her game without getting Jenna and others in foul trouble, especially in the Lady Rebel's house. All the ingredients for a great game; Two terrific senior players with strong teams to back them up, two top ten teams in the state, a hard core district rivelry, lot's of history between the coaches and players, neither with losses in the region. Someone's gotta lose, but it should be a good game! Good luck ladies! http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2012302020077
  20. BGH, I love your passion and enthusiasm for your team - keep it up - however, clearly Ryle "won" that tournament. Got the trophy, 4-0, yep. But, I am looking forward to BB getting even better these next years. How's the JV and Frosh doing?
  21. Just one person's opinion on how the teams stack up in the state, not the gospel, but interesting. NKY teams getting some love here.

  23. Congrats to Walton Verona! Awesome for Northern Ky to be so well represented in the final four at the All "A"; great job by all the girls!
  24. Sounds like an exciting game! Thanks for the reports, Clyde! Now where is that fast forward button?
