Bishop Brossart 48 Newport Central Catholic 45 OT

Featured Replies

:cool:Somewhere up in heaven ole Rodney Dangerfield is standing on a golf course at the pearly gates in his CaddyShack outfit shaking his head. "I don't understand when I was down on earth it happened to me and now it has been happening to the Lady 'Stangs. They don't get NO RESPECT," stares Rodney.

Maybe after a convincing 48-45 overtime win over Newport Central Catholic at Seither Center Friday Night, more respect will come to Bishop Brossart and Coach Josh Feldmann. Suddenly the Lady 'Stangs are 17-3 and heading on Tuesday night to the State Capital to do battle in the Touchstone Energy All "A" State Tournament.

The exciting game, before a large crowd saw the lead exchange hadns 14 times and be tied 5 times.

"NOBODY plays harder than this team does for 32 minutes," exclaimed Coach Josh Feldmann who has his team starting believe it is truly one of the Region Contenders. Two more wins and they will have already equaled last year's 19 win total. "I am so proud of this team," he adds again.

The Lady 'Stangs sprinted to a 6-0 lead out of the gate in the battle of horses in the corral. They still led 12-8 after one quarter before NCC took a 21-20 edge at the half. NCC capitalized on some turnovers and ran out to brief streak and took a 33-26 advantage after three before a huge fourth quarter sent the game into overtime outscoring the Lady Breds 16-9. Brossart made some clutch shots and free throws in overtime to go ahead and win 48-45.

Sophomore Sarah Futscher had a monster game for the Lady 'Stangs with 17 points and 15 rebounds including 11 rebounds on the defensive end. She had 3 steals, 2 blocked shots and an assist. She took advantage of NCC fouls to go 7 of 8 from the foul line.

Sophomore Abby Stadtmiller had 8 points while junior Rachel Hartig tossed in 7. Maria "Mama" Greis had one of her best games with 8 points and a big 7 rebounds. Madison Eisenman (6) and Cori Ziegler (2) rounded out the scoring. Huber had 14 for NCC. Kiernan was held to 10 and Muench only 5.

The Lady 'Stangs controlled the glass 43-34 and outshot NCC 35.7% to 32.7%. They hit 57.1% of their free throw attempts to 50% for NCC. They forced the Lady Breds into 19 turnovers and recorded 17 steals for the game. NCC was only 3 of 13 from three point range.

"Our defense was superb again," added Feldmann. "I was very happy with that.

Early in the season Brossart started 7-1 and got little respect. Later they beat Campbell County by 11 in the crosstown shootout and got little respect. They went 3-1 in the Owensboro Christmas Classic and got little respect. They went 4-0 in District play and got little respect from the papers or the media.

Now another win over someone ranked above them in the ratings. Will they finally get the respect poor Rodney never got. Only the pollsters and papers know for sure but at Brossart everyone knows about the best kept secret perhaps in the state.

Somewhere off in the distance you can even hear the "Turtle Man" yelping about this conquest.

Can someone please post box scores? I couldn't find anything on this game in the The Post or NKY.com NCC had 19 turnovers. Thats unheard of for ncc. I am sure Coach Dawn will have them prepared for the All A Congrats to the Lady Stangs and Good Luck down all A. Good Luck Lady Breds. This loss can only make you stronger going into the all A.

Big Green Horse- don't be so caught up on rankings, etc. Look at the mighty cincy bearcats, Mick Cronin is glad they are the under dogs and not ranked. Just go with it and enjoy.

Congratulations to the Lady Mustangs. I thought NCC lost that game more than Brossart won it. Got to hit those free throws, ladies! Very physical game by both teams. NCC took the freshman game easily and a shot at the end by Loren Zimmerman won it for the JV team. Lady Breds have nothing to worry about.

Just many more years of Futscher, Stadtmiller, Eisenman, Ziegler, Hartig, Verst, Roberts, Young, Greis, King, Shannon, Schultz etc etc etc The Brossart core is sophomores with some great young players. In reality though this is a fans game with both teams in different regions.

Some of those girls are 8th graders and pretty impressive to see. And just a terrific sophomore class. Expect some good years for Bishop girls. Good luck in Frankfort!

I have to inquire . . . why post a picture of Futcher (if that's who that is) vs Campbell County? What does that have to do with the OT win vs NCC?

And how do we know that that's Futcher in the picture anyway? While it's an interesting action photo, by not being able to see her face, it makes it a pointless picture.

It's Futscher there was no photographer at the game. BlueKrush must have a crush lol. It was another win over Campbell Co. though 53-42 in that one.
