  1. Congrats to Scott for making it into the semi finals by defeating Christian County 3-0 in the Elite 8 yesterday. They went on to fall to nationally ranked Mercy in the semi-finals, but what a great run for the lady Eagles!
  2. Notre Dame takes on Mercy today at 2pm! The Pandas return to the state finals for the 2nd straight year. Do the Pandas have what it takes to win today in Louisville after falling to the Jaguars twice this season ?
  3. At first glance, I would say this is the top ten players for Kentucky Premier ? Seems all 10 on this list are premier players. Mr james could you clarify that? I know Premier has the lion's share of Ky girl basketball talent, (and good for them, they are doing a great job) but that shouldn't exclude non premier players like Rankin and Kiernan from a "top 10 in kentucky" list.
  4. He truly made the most of the hand he was dealt with utter grace. . . Thinking of him walking through those pearly gates . . There is a post on Hoxworth's FB page which is an example of BF's fragility, strength, and humanity. . . .

  12. On the men's side, Jordan Hilgefort from St Henry had successful soccer career at Marshall University, but graduated last year.
  13. Sounds like it was a good game - THANKS for the updates Spindoc !
  14. First half very close. Lady Rebels couldn't buy a basket 3rd qtr and most of 4th. Horrible shooting! Nice run for Boone. NDA on a roll!
  15. Cooper wins the District title! Ryle in it to the end. Congrats Jags!
  16. Saturday at 840 am, at Holmes. What a fantastic ending tonight - maybe it will end up being one of those "good" losses for the Bulldogs, make them hungry for the big tournament. Good luck to all the teams at BOK !
  17. No stand outs for coach of year at this point. Several over-achieving teams this year, but they couldn't finish in districts. I think Highlands coach has done a pretty nice job with her young team and NDA's talented team is obviously well coached. I would guess that this is one of the years when the winner of regionals ends up as COY. Certainly end of year performance is a big factor in player/coach of year consideration. So, let's see what happens at BOK. Good luck to all the teams!
  18. Is this a serious question? Nell is a legend, yes. Great career and all that, but this 4 seed winning the Districts came down to getting by Conner. It was a great upset, but Conner having some issues coming down the final stretch of season. Then Boone beat the 2nd seed Ryle which finished considerably below 500. Great tourney for Boone, for sure, but looking at the season I don't see coach of the year. Now if she could coach her way to state, that would be another story. :thumb: Boone has some nice players. Love watching Jones play her game, but Switzer was the BIG difference for Boone last night. She seems to play up for the big games.
  19. Boys 8th Champs - Gray Girls 8th Champs - Gray Boys 7th Champ - Conner Girls 7th Champ - Twenhofel ? Boys 6th Champ - Gray Girls 6th Champ - Conner Congratulations to all the Champions of NKMSA this year and thanks to the middle schools/players for another fun season of basketball.
  20. So, Baller 99, who won games in the opening round at the freshman tournament? Assume you mean the one at NDA?
  21. There is winning, and then there is winning at all costs. This is high school, not the nba. There are rules both spoken and unspoken regarding sportsmanship and keeping the physical and mental well being of our youth athletes the priority. This topic has come up in other threads and it seems that there are two schools of thoughts - and it probably does have to do with what the practice is at that poster's school. "It's all about winning, so anything goes" VS let the girls play at the appropriate skill and age level if that is where they have been playing most of the year. The practice of having 3 teams in HS might be viewed as team A, B, and C. C being reserved for 9th grade (and below if needed or desired to fill a team). If a 9th grader is good enough or needed to play up, great! Like a farm system. Let them get better by working as a team and competing with girls of a similar skill set. There may be no "rule" against sending in the stud from the upper level to play that one tournament or big game, but I see it as "just not right" for a bunch of reasons (and I think RCC has them all covered). It's as like running up the score against an inferior team. Don't really care if players float between 2 levels, ie frosh to j/v or j/v to varsity. The key issue to me is, has the player had significant minutes with varsity? Are they good enough to start? Then they need to stay off the freshman team.
  22. Boone district schools were closed, but generally the varsity games go on unless there is a serious snow/ice emergency.
