9th has 3? Holy cross, Holmes, Highlands

Seems incorrect to place much emphasis, if any, on last year's head to head ... For example, last year Holmes only loses were to HC, times 3 ! Holmes clearly deserves higher ranking this year, yes? Plenty of other similar examples. Agree putting the rankings together is difficult task, especially so early, so THANKS for coming up with something for posters to debate. Obviously, the BGP rankings does not use a formula, nor does difficulty of schedule seem to be much consideration. It is only someone's subjective opinion. You could drive yourself crazy using the merry-go-round argument of team A beat B, but team B beat C, then team C beat A! Time will make this task easier.

Ok, got it. Obviously Sumo was jesting, he is well aware his Lady Royals are doubted by very few. Even the bgp poll predicted this win. Many predicted an easy win. You aren't the under dog when you are ranked top ten in state, coming off a final four finish, losing no players AND you are playing an unranked team in that particular home venue.

Hoping for a good competitive game! SK bringing an impressive record and some big wins with them. Ryle has a nice team this year, but don't see them topping the Pioneers.

What player was injured? Is there an update on her status?

She scrimmaged with Boone in June, so I assume she will be wearing Rebel blue this season. Should be a welcome addition for the new coach there. Interesting long shot, often deadly.

Understand your point of view, but it is a tradition to award a losing team one spot on all tourney team, similar to other sport traditions that may not always make sense. It is unfortunate that more time and opinions other than the head coach don't typically go into all tourney selection, but it may be only option as an arena full of people are waiting for the results and trophy presentations. Congratulations to all of the selectees this year, one could make an argument for other Lady Bulldogs not selected, as well as any one of HC top six, but keep in mind the award should look at the total contribution of the tournament with perhaps strong consideration for the individual impact on winning the championship game. Holy Cross scoring totals for tournament : Turner - 48 (22 in champ game) A Mayhaus 28 (13 in final) Hazzert 25 (10 in final) Tucker 23 McClendon 17 (4 in final) Cessie 9 (2 in final) Turner's award as MVP makes perfect sense, she makes it look so easy, some may not notice how much she brings. She scored 22 of Cross's 53 in the final. Double digits each tourney game. Hazzert played with great heart and worked both ends of court extremely well. That effort, combined with 10 points yesterday put her in the the running for A-T Team, but McClendon is certainly vital to HC each and every game, she barely sits and is certainly key to HC success! Just not sure her actual results were more deserving of accolades than her team mates during this tournament. But the really confusing thing for me was the selection of Ally over Cessie. Both great players, hard working and tough to get around. But as the award was for performance in the tournament, I see Ally being the more obvious pick as the more all-around player who contributed more to her team yesterday, in particular. May have been a draw with her sister for the other games, although Ally was HC's second leading scorer for tournament... Even young Tucker had a noteworthy tournament, leading scorer for the opening round game, solid through out... HC has really put together a basketball T E A M, well balanced and thus difficult to name the "best 3"! I just hope the head coaches make these selections with the idea of "best performance in the tournament", and don't award a player simply because they played above their average or because another played below expectations. Good luck to the whole team!
