jumpball Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Heard Franklin beat cov Holy Cross by a comfortable margin.
Henry Steele Posted November 22, 2015 Posted November 22, 2015 Franklin County won first half by 1, second half by about 8. Franklin is very good, but so is Holy Cross. I think they will surprise some people.
Your Daddy Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Don't have exact scores but basically: Shelby won Lincoln County won Franklin County won Trimble County won Mason County won
Your Daddy Posted November 22, 2015 Author Posted November 22, 2015 Holy Cross has a good starting five, but they have NO depth. Only played 6(and the 6th player only played a minute or two). No one was able to foul out or they would have been in serious trouble.

Kinda like running eights all night in a practice. It was a scrimmage, therefore the outcome wasn't as important than the practice.

No one was able to foul out or they would have been in serious trouble. They do have some nice players. Here's the difference in scrimmages (and summer games) Teams go into scrimmages to work on their things and they don't focus on the other team. They want to prepare for the season. They want to work on what they want to do in the season. I heard FC pressed HC and played a lot of man. My guess is, if this meant something, that may not be what they would have done against HC because that plays right into the hands of their strength and provides them opportunities to score. Teams on the 9th will not play HC like that. They will not press. They will get in a zone. And they will make them shoot it from the outside. And that is not their strength. HC won with defense last year because they had the tools to do that. Those tools are gone. And so is 80% of their scoring (that wasn't a high scoring team with the other 80%) This team will need to figure out how to score when playing teams that know how to defend them. If they can do that, they will be right back near the top of the ninth again.

Why would you play a scrimmage with no substitutions? Don't you need the subs prepared too?
Budman Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I watched the first quarter and Franklin County played 3-2 zone the entire quarter.
Catchtheball Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I agree with RCC9, everyone needs time on the floor preseason, especially if someone gets in foul trouble or heaven forbid gets hurt. Its also odd that "the girls knew and agreed there would be no substitutions", N2thepaint, could you clarify if there was a vote to not sub?
RCC9 Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 I watched the first quarter and Franklin County played 3-2 zone the entire quarter. Did FC press and how did HC score against the zone? Do you remember the score at the end of the first?

The rest of the team actually agreed to travel and not play? They actually raised their hand and said they were okay with that? In a scrimmage?
Budman Posted November 23, 2015 Posted November 23, 2015 Did FC press and how did HC score against the zone? Do you remember the score at the end of the first? They pressed a little bit. I believe Holy Cross won the 1st quarter. Franklin County struggled to score the first part of the quarter.
