  1. Joining Lauren Tibbs on the top 2011 list are two other Northern Ky girls, Sydni Wainscott from SK (21), and Abby Jump from Ryle (11). What college prospects for these 3 top seniors?
  2. Panda, I know your heart aches for those young people and their families. Believe that everyone in the community is hoping and praying for the best! Talk about spring breaks and such is just that - TALK! When something this horrible happens, people try to make some kind of sense out of it - and they just CAN'T. There is no rhyme or reason. It just is. So, so sorry for all the lives impacted. I am praying those injured ladies are able to fully recover. . . Keep us updated.
  3. I agree with you, but this accident could have happened on the way home from the movies or such here in NKY, too. In fact, NDA (the school itself) is perched on a hill above an infamous stretch of I -75, otherwise known as "death hill". , NDA drivers successfully handle that all of the time. However, the growing trend of sending our minor and barely legal children on spring break for a week of freedom and fun in another state is disturbing. . .
  4. Most recent news that I have seen from NKY.com As of Friday night, two of the young women, 18-year-old Krista Noll and 17-year-old Jessica Russo, were listed in critical condition at Huntsville Hospital. Catherine Ammerman was listed in serious condition and Megan Downing in fair condition, the hospital spokeswoman said. Across town in another hospital, Jordan Zumdick was listed in fair condition at 10 p.m., a hospital spokeswoman from Athens Limestone Hospital said. Two others, Katherine Russo and Megan Berberich, were treated and released. Police believe they were the only two wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash, and said they were the only two not ejected from the vehicle.
  5. What a nightmare! None of us are immune to such a tragedy - could happen anywhere - spring break, or just down the road. . . But it is all the more horrific to have occurred in this manner. I think I'll go give my kids a hug (and remind them to wear their seat belts.) I cannot begin to imagine what those families are going through . . . God Bless the young lady who lost her life, prayers for the rest of the girls and all of their families. Such sad news! "There but for the grace of God. . ."
  6. :thumb: She has certainly earned that good press! As for the other stuff, sports fans do love controversy! Won't go away easy.
  7. SSS web site http://www.hometeamsonline.com/teams/?u=SHININGSTARSPORTS&t=c&s=basketball&p=home
  8. And, thus the controversy will continue. . . But I think you mean 2012?
  9. Pittman still coaching 10 boys, and very good 13 girls teams for SSS, (his kid's teams). Don't know if he is continuing with others . . . He seems to be doing a lot of coach and team recruiting.
  10. Go Boone! Go earn some respect for Northern Kentucky girls basketball!
  11. Something positive about Ryle? I think there has been lot's of positives, but I must mention Dawn Johnson - she plays really strong. A freshman, right? Anyone know how tall she is? Enjoy watching her make things happen. . .
  12. Just looking at the Miss Basketball thread; made me wonder. . . How awesome would it be in a couple of years to maybe have 2 of the top contenders for Miss basketball right here in Northern Kentucky? From the same school system? In fact, both from Union? Jenna and Sydney both have the potential - looking forward to seeing them live up to it!
  13. I think the kids are already handling it better! But us grown up got to have something to talk about! Why would Boone fans bring it up? Let's face it; as good as NF and her team might be, Moss was a gift. One received under questionable circumstances. . . I can see why Ryle folks don't like it. But again - glad it worked out for Miss Moss!
  14. If Sydney observed that, then it was from the stands, as she had already "quit" Ryle before post season play - perhaps for the 2nd time, as Ryle also started that season without Moss on roster. I don't pretend to know what happened, but it was a shame to waste that talent after she (and Jenna) had showed such promise as 8th graders for Ryle. She is certainly doing fine this year! I hope Boone goes all the way at state! Sorry Shockey, the Boone/Moss/Ryle thing keeps popping up - It is an unusual situation and interesting to speculate about. Ryle has a great program thanks to Coach O and the great group of players there. They need to put the whole Moss/Boone thing behind them next year and just shine as the terrific TEAM they are!
  15. Thanks for your insight. Truly words to remember! Past time to congratulate both coaches for their superb seasons! I have a favorable impression of Coach O, but Coach F has gotten the BIG results! (I really just don't like the way she stomps her foot so much:rolleyes:) Great job ladies!
  16. As someone who knows very little about AAU basketball, I was hoping someone could explain to me what is BCK? I know it is basketball club of kentucky, but is there any actual relationship between "bck" teams? I know there are a couple of girl's BCK teams in NKY that seem to be thinly connected, and there are some boys teams, I think. It seems some of the AAU organizations are united in name only. . . Are most AAU teams independent entities?
  17. I am not saying the ref messed up; not the point. Just saying it took some steam out of them, like the missed lay-up. I think they did a remarkable job in Ryle's 1st EVER regional championship, especially considering their youth - I believe their key players yesterday were 2 jr's, 2 soph's, and a frosh ? With some help from their only sr and some other 9th and 10th graders? They have a bright future. (hopefully no one transfers out in the off season! JK!)
  18. My thought is that was a huge missed layup by Ryle with them down by four points late in the game. Given, one play does not lose the game, but that was BIG. That was big - and that player knew it, hence she became emotional; perhaps starting the unraveling of her team at the end. (Not to take away from her otherwise very nice game Another big momentum breaking moment was when #35 got a great steal late in the game, but had the possession reversed when the ref got in the way, and he called her out of bounds. (didn't see exactly what happened, but he sure was right smack in the way!) I think she may have gone out rather than plow right into him. . . Ah! Girls basketball!
  19. Funny how in the poll from 2/28, only 5 out of 140 bgp posters predicted Newport's win . . .
