Who's paying to get into high school games nowadays?

Featured Replies

Do senior citizens and veterans get free passes to get into games at your school? Who are the others that can get free passes? Do the players at your school have to pay to get into middle school games or other sporting events at the high school? Seems like all schools are different. Attendance does seem to be way down, except for just the elite games or rivalry games.

I make sure I always pay, most schools depend on everyone paying to get in. I know plenty of people working the ticket booth that would let me in for free. They almost never accept the money for my 3 year old though. That being said I have a tough time making it to more that one or two games a year.

I would hope that senior citizens get in free at games. I've never heard of a school not allowing seniors in free of charge.

At NewCath the students can buy a season pass at the beginning of the school year that gets them in for free to all home games for every sport.

Price?

I really wish they would not charge for kids under 10! Those kids are only there because they are too young to leave them at home alone. You got the $10 from the parents, isn't that enough? Plus you are sure to get some concession stand income from those kids as well. Give those families a break and don't charge for the kids! That goes for the middle school, high school and Sports of all Sorts venues.

With all due respect, I say the price is the price. Most schools rely heavily on gate from basketball and football that goes into a fund that supports all of the "minor sports". Some schools have a general athletic budget. Where else are folks gonna go and get that atmosphere for 5 bucks? If you don't have it, stay at the house. Just sayin'. Oh, and I know we are gonna get the family of 7 argument with 1 playing and 6 to pay entry. Well, goes with the territory. Have granny watch the rugrats while you go to the game. Not like the 5yr old is gonna remember any of it anyway. More likely to roll around in the hallway or in the stands in the flattened skittles anyway.

I'm a senior citizen and an ex coach with a lifetime coaches card but I always pay my way into games and always will. Schools need the money to maintain their programs. Remember they have to pay five officials and the money has to come from some where.

Amen.

Exactly right. I understand the idea of offering reduced prices to seniors and veterans, but high school programs, in the end, need more "support" than a cheering section and a good jock strap. I've been working Cov Cath football games for over a decade, and I could easily get in free as event staff, but I choose to pay for the sake of putting my money into the team's coffers.

I do not pay as an employee/coach but I make up for it by going to the concession stand, buying the split-the-pot tickets, and other things that are sold.

I have no reason to know if senior citizens get in free at Warren Central so can't speak to that, but the only ones I know of that get in free are those who are working in some way or have officials or coaches passes. Students have to pay just like the rest, and they may not even get a discount anymore (used to be $1 less when I was there). I know Bowling Green High lets students in for free, and that's just not high school students but any student in the entire school system.

Have never, ever heard of that. Not to many seem to even let senior citizens or veterans in with a discount

At Brossart we have special Senior Citizen's nights but beyond that I think everyone pays.

Our students used to get in free with a purchased Student Activities Card, but now pay a flat rate of $2 or $3.

We provide Go Mustangs! passes which provide free admission to selected home games to all of our feeder grade school kids who play in the Campbell County Parochial Basketball League or any other feeder school team or players on request.
