Owen County 39 Gallatin County 34

Did Sawyer Williams play?

Any game details?

This was such a low scoring game. Neither Sawyer or Carson Williams played tonight. Sawyer was out with a hurt foot and Carson had a middle school game. The Rebels struggled getting the ball up the floor against Gallatin's defense but came back from being down at the half. Cooper Taylor started in S. William's place and had a great night! I don't think the Wildcats were ready prepared for him. Congratulations to the Rebels! I am looking forward to this matchup again when middle school is over and everyone is healthy.

So a high school team has a middle school kid that misses the high school game when there's a middle school game? Odd.

Owen Co. 39

Gallatin Co. 34

Gallatin Co. 11 10 7 6 34

Owen Co. 6 8 15 10 39

Gallatin Co. -- Davis 8, Morgan 10, Z. Brown 11, N. Brown 3, Ingram 2.

Owen Co. -- Ripy 11, Ball 5, Osborne 8, Taylor 11, Shelton 4

Does seem a little odd but Owen's middle school season wraps up tomorrow night and then it won't be an issue.

Wow, thanks. They beat Gallatin with their better players not playing. Impressive!

I'm really surprised that Owen won without Sawyer in the line-up. He's an all-region player and maybe the best in the region. Without him in the line-up and Carson not playing, Gallatin couldn't have asked for a better scenerio. Congrats to the Rebels.

Owen Co has a rule where players are permitted to play up, but must play the appropriate grade level games also as their first priority. The middle school season starts and ends early to allow stand out MS players to play up after MS ball. Just another twist on the "playing up" issue.

I believe Owen 8th grade was undefeated - surprise!

So the MS season starts early and ends early so studs can play up? What about the regular kids, who just want to play basketball during the basketball season and have fun?

Once again some parents get involved sit on site base and make some decision that makes no sense and hurts kids more than it helps them. It kills me when people think that coaches don't think things through before deciding to play kids up. Most coaches evaluate the player who is going to be moved up and the program as a whole and then make a decision that is the best for everyone. Instead of allowing coaches to do this some administrator and parents decide to put a rule in place to take the discretionary decision away from the coach. STUPID RULE, PERIOD!

I agree..Carson has no business playing 8th grade basketball. It is not helping him get better one bit.

I thought Owen did a nice job playing half court defense against the Cats. Gallatin could not get anything going in their half court game. Ripy and Taylor had very good game, and they did a nice job controlling the pace of game in second half.
