Ryle 2011/2012

What does Ryle need to do to improve in 2011/2012? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

I believe Ryle will compete for the Region Crown, once again. They will be high scoring and play "in your face defense". They have a couple of new players who will help fill the holes from the loss of Abby Jump and Liz Meyer. The 9th Region, as always will be neck and neck troughout the season. Good luck and great health to all of the young ladies this season.

Speaking of health, how are Jenna Crittendon and Ashley Cheeseman doing? Last I heard this summer Jenna was dealing with a stress fracture and Ashley with a torn ACL.

I would expect a stress fracture to be healed and to create no problem for Jenna, but a torn ACL is a different animal. Any idea when Ashley will be good to go?

Will Haylee Smith, the fastpitch softball player, get any varsity minutes in basketball this year? I assume she is playing. She is a really nice player with good size, very aggressive and can finish.

Have heard Cheesman hopes to start playing in November. Crittendon is apparently good to go.

If Ryle freshman Smith can bring to Ryle Hoops anything like she has already brought to Ryle's pitcher's mound, then the Raider's post game should be much improved.

Thanks! I figured Jenna would be good to go but to hear that Ashley may be able to start back in November is great news! She must be working her tail off which doesn't surprise me. If I recall correctly she battled through injuries at the beginning of last season and was playing great basketball the last third or so of the season.

Interesting about Smith. I was aware of her softball skills but hadn't heard of her playing BB. But I think she is just a ninth grader now so perhaps she's been playing at one of the Ryle feeder middle schools.

I saw her in a tournament playing for a grade school team that was a Ryle feeder school last year. She is a very talented basketball player as well and assumed she may be getting some JV and/or varsity minutes this year but wasn't sure.

I heard that she will be out through December.

Any updates on Cheesman? Is she healthy and practicing yet? How about Smith? Will she see any varsity time this year?

I hope the Cheeseman girl gets to return. One, she's a senior and has worked a lot of years for this year.

Secondly, I want to see how a full-strength Ryle fares this year.

Agreed. Will definitely need her against Boone.

According to what I was told, Ryle took it on the chin yesterday from Marion County. Did Ryle run plays this year? 50-24......

I read today that Jenna C is injured again. Cheeseman isn't expected back until January. I assume the Johnson girl is still at Ryle, correct?

Hope it is not a serious injury. Will keep her in my prayers.

Johnson shows up on the roster I see on the Ryle KHSAA site. Stress fractures can be a recurring problem. Hope that isn't going to be the case for Jenna.
