Bellevue has done a nice job so far this year, but get 1st loss tonight.

Cameron is not playing basketball! He is focusing on football/track. It is too bad he didn't stick it out with basketball, he would have given the Tigers some great depth in the back court. In my opinion he let his team mates down!

Beechwood out slow tonight, but played better in 2nd half. Cruse 21, Fangman 19, Mckenzie 12, Nussbaum 10.

Beau Menefee at Bellevue is worth a ticket and a bag of popcorn to watch his sideline antics!:popcorn: Rodney Snapp at Newport will also quickly get a following with his actions from the coaching box and beyond!

Walter, the season is about to begin, should be a fun one! Only time will tell if you are correct in your assessments of the talent in this district!

Voice of reason you are way off base saying Coach Shumate has talked kids into giving up other sports, Period! Kyles decision to give up football was his and his alone. Not a single coach on Beechwoods basketball staff would ever tell a student athlete to give up another sport to focus on basketball. Get the facts striaght! Yes the bar is raised at Beechwood for basketball, as it is in football, baseball, band, academics and anything else you can think of.

I am quite sure that he hasn't seen a live high school football game this year. It is all based on records and won loss percentage etc etc.

No Bellevue has not been playing well. They just beat 3 really bad teams in a row. They will not win another game this season.

These rules are the beginning of what is taking place in football right now also. The penalties for excessive celebration etc.! I know some of the problems with taunting and poor sportsmanship are bad, but it is also good that teams have a little bit of gamesmanship toward one another. Sports at the high school level and above are competitive, and when people are being competitive emotions come out. I think emotions need to be expressed in sports as part of lifes learning curve. Most coaches tell players how sports emulate life lessons, well learning how to deal with ones emotions is a life lesson and if we keep young people from expressing them how, will they be able to learn right from wrong. When players show poor sportsmanship penalize the individual not the entire group. The more rules put in place like this the worse it will be for sports in general.

Boy, the last couple of years this thread had as many post as the rest of the current threads put together. Where are all the Bellevue and Daytons fans at. I know it has been a tough year for both schools, but heck it is still the BATTLE for the PADDLE game! Anythings goes and usually does doesn't it. I think Mr. Slater will have a big night, but look for a couple of the young Bellevue players to come up big tonight also.

You can't because of scheduling conflicts. Basketball and other sports are not classified as football is. How would you determine who goes? Many would say it is based on who you play and your record. What about that 23-0 Class A school that no one bigger than them would schedule because the bigger school has nothing to gain. Also, basketball can have a district, a region and a state tournament finished before the semi's are done in football. There are too many differences and variables. It's comparing apples to oranges.

Chest bumping and high fives are all part of being excited. This is a young staff that Bellevue has. They should act that way. It shows the players and fans that they have a passion for being out there and are not just going through the motions. I have been coaching for a long time, and i am so tired of people who have never coached a day in their lives critizing guys who put in the time and effort who do. Granted some make mistakes and do foolish things at time usually in the heat of battle, aka throwing things or saying the wrong thing. that will be handled by he appropriate peope if need be. Remember this is still just a game! Enjoy it, but do not become zealots over it!

Remember, some people coach cause they can't play! Just because you are a good player doesn't mean you can coach. But it sure does help one heck of a lot! It takes a person a while to learn how to deal with the mentality of todays players(and their parents). Their is much more to coaching especially at small schools than X's and O's. If these players are helping out from time to time that is awesome, but the impact from them will be seen more at the excitement level than what coaching lessons they may bring.

I have heard that Coach Webster has some other Bengals stopping by to help out on occasion. Deltha Oneal and Jordan Palmer will be in once in a while to work with the Tigers.

Rodney attended Southwestern (Hanover) in Indiana. He has been an assistant at Holmes and Milan, Indiana before coming to Dixie. Rodney will be just fine, and I think this is a really solid hire by Newport. If teams take on the personalitiy of a coach well then Newport will be playing some in your face defense with attitude! :banana:

This last week Beechwood played Ross, Lawrenceburg, Milford 1 and Milford2, Fayetteville, and Madiera. Fangman was best player on the court in all games. Nussbaum, Maus and McKenzie all sophmores played well. Cruse also had a nice camp when he could make it.

What style is that? I think Rodney would be a good fit in Newport!

I Heard that who ever the new coach is that they will put him in Bellevue black and gold and drop him off at the east end of Dayton and make him walk back to Bellevue high school! He will then understand it I am sure

What about Rodney Snapp at Dixie, He is young and full of energy. He has been an assisant at Holmes, and at Milan Indiana where the program had huge amounts of success while he was there. I think he would be just what they need in Ludlow!
