Congrats to the Tigers on earning the win tonight!! They got the job done when they needed to, especially at the end of the half and the third quarter. Brossart had too many mistakes and ill-timed penalties--Huge difference in the flags tonight, and hats off to Bellevue for playing with more composure and discipline. Sounds like they played tonight like they are capable vs. a couple of other recent games. Good comeback by the Mustangs that just came up short, again aided by untimely penalties and good execution by the Tigers. Next week's game for BB vs. Walton will be another pivotal one in determining the #2 spot in the district behind Beechwood. Good luck to both teams the remainder of the season!!

What is, is! We are still in the process of establishing an identity.

 

Those of us in the know respected Bellevue and felt that we might be vulnerable to being knocked off tonight.

We were happy to see all of the confidence shown in us in the BGP contest thread, and hoped very strongly that we would live up their expectations and continue to march forward undefeated.

 

However, all good things must come to an end and this one is in the history books and Bellevue was the winner tonight. Hopefully, the loss tonight will strengthen our resolve and we will double our efforts towards beating Walton-Verona next week.

 

As far as 2A goes, NO we are not ready for 2A competition, and if it comes to fruition, it will be a major challenge, which in the long run might benefit us, BUT we would much prefer to stay in 1A where we can better compete and continue to establish our program. Unfortunately, we don't have much say in the matter and it's one of those things that we can't control and we will have to roll with the punches.

Congratulations to Bellevue on the win. It was apparent that the lack luster effort against Walton was not going to be repeated against Bishop Brossart. The Mustangs did do some things well, but continually shot themselves in the foot with a multitude of penalties.

Didn't see the Walton game, but did talk to a sportswriter that did; and he said this wasn't the same Bellevue team that showed up vs. Walton. The passion and intensity of the post games celebration showed how much the Tigers (and their fans) wanted this one; and their efforts on the field reflected such. Again, congrats to Bellevue on the win, and I expect the Mustangs to show up like Bellevue did last night, next week in Newport!!

Brossart draws kids form a larger area than the City of Bellevue, so in my eyes I see that this was a good win for Bellevue. Brossart program has made good strides, but a move to 2A would set them back.

I agree, the Stangs are making great strides and getting kids that might go to NCC due to them having a football program. Now the Stangs are getting those kids and developing into a formidable team.

 

Bellevue will always struggle with numbers and I think the fact that Brossart has the ability to not only get the kids who would possibly go to NCC/CC it does give them a little bit wider draw.

Therein lies the main problem for Brossart as well--It will take years for them to consistently get the better players from their feeder schools coming to play for a lesser established program. St. Joe's, St. Mary's, etc. kids will continue to populate the programs at NCC, Campbell and other area schools until BB fields teams that are a more desirable option. Brossart doesn't "get the kids who would possibly go to NCC/CC", they simply try to keep some kids from their feeder schools--Big difference from the inference that BB can go out and have their pick of kids from a large area??

I would say that they are now at a level where it is desireable to not only get a very good education at Brossart but also play for a good team. Are they ready for 2A, probably not but still could attract kids that may want to possibly play for a good Catholic program at the 1A level.
