  1. I 1,000% agree. It seems whatever the NCC coaches ask Miller to do, he does. When Ryan went out with the ankle injury, some questioned who would step up the scoring for NCC. Well, it looks like he answered that question. I don't think young Mr. Miller came out the entire game. It was an incredible performance by Miller during his teams biggest game of the year. As good as he played on the court during this game and this season, he is even a better person off the court. He is a great kid with a bright future ahead of him. Congrats Andy and the Breds on a GREAT SEASON!!
  2. 21 for Downs, WOW!!!! that has to be a varsity career high for him.... I wasn't at the game, but it sounds like he played an all around great game from all the posts. He's a good kid and has some great parents. Nice balanced scoring for the Rebels. How did Mr. Brown do? I see 16 points...... Did he play his NORMAL solid game? Sounds as though Holmes's game plan was to take him away and have the rest of the Rebels beat the, which it sounds as though they did. Congrats Boone!!
  3. Perhaps you are correct, I just kept thinking the whole time if they could deny Kiernan the ball, NDA would be a lot better off. Hopefully NDA shoots and plays as well as they did against Ryle. This should be a good semi final match up.
  4. That would be a big blow for NCC. It looks like others will need to pick up his scoring. From checking the box score, it looks as though Jr. Andy Miller had a nice game with 11 points (and 10 rebounds). I believe they both shared the same position. It looked from the stands like Miller was the stronger, screen setter, rebounder and Ryan was the scorer between the two. Hopefully, Miller can continue to expand his scoring numbers to go along with his other attributes he brings to the team. Go Breds and good luck against Ryle!!
  5. Seriously? Come on JB!! What quarter did you turn the game off, 1st or 2nd? I agree with Lawnboy13, feel free to step up and start broadcasting yourself!!! Good Job with the call Buttels!!! Congrats Jake Thelen and the rest of the CCH Seniors on a very well played game, a good season and a wonderful career at CCH!
  6. After watching the first NCC/NDA match up this season, if NDA can cover Kiernan and deny her the ball, they will win this game. The last time these two met, NDA made it way to easy for Kiernan to post up and get the ball. Once she got on the low block with the ball (or in the middle of the lane), NDA was done, she either scored or got fouled. After watching Coach L in action last night. I think she will gear her defense to deny Kiernan the ball and take her chances with the other NCC players beating her. I'll say NDA by 10. NDA 66 NCC 56
  7. Yes, Ellie is Mark's daughter! I'm sure you mean 'the rat' in the most endearing of ways...... In my opinion, there were two keys stretches for NDA in the 4th quarter of this game when Ryle was making their comebacks. First, with about 4 minutes to go Hannah Thelan came back into the game and made back to back outstanding plays leading to 4 consecutive points for the Pandas (basket and then a steal and foul, made both free throws) and then Ellie, after Ryle mounted another comeback on a basket and then an old fashioned 3 point play (missed free throw though). I thought those two stretches were key to the Pandas hanging on for the victory last night. The comment of the night was when Hannah Thelan fouled out and a shout from the stands was 'Good game Hannah, you fouled out by committing only 3 fouls'. Her last two fouls were extremely questionable at best. However, the section I was in, enjoyed that very humorous comment. Anyway, congratulations to Ellie, Hannah and all the NDA girls on an outstanding quarterfinal game and congratulations to the NDA coaching staff on a very solid game plan. Even when things were getting nervous at the end the coaches seemed very calm and composed which looked like helped the girls to do the same. It was a very exciting and well played game. One of the better women's games I've seen in a long time.
  8. Has the fesaibility results been released to the public? I was with some folks that I would think would be 'in the know' and they said the announcement was coming. I know, it seems, they have been trying for YEARS to go DI, however, I was just surprised that it was going to be announced in the next week or so. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard the same thing. Perhaps it's just wishful thinking on their part, but they sure seemed to know what they were talking about. Especially when they threw in the OVC as the conference that had 'already accepted' them.
  9. Travis is done. He attempted a come back a couple weeks ago and the knee gave out on him again (even with the brace on). He is now preparing for surgery. I don't believe the surgery date/time has been scheduled yet. I don't know what Travis's plans are for college at this point. Spider - Please, give up!!! I especially like your comment ..... 'Cooper won that game. Case closed'. Really, what time is their game next week at the BOK Center?
  10. I heard this rumor (again) this past weekend. I was told there was to be an announcement this week (or next) about NKU jumping to Division I and playing in the OVC. Any truth?
  11. Exactly LTG33!! Go Luck to the Rebels in the finals and in the 9th region tournament next week!!!
  12. Article: http://nky.cincinnati.com/article/AB/20110223/SPT0302/102240367/Downs-finds-redemption-?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|s The more and more I hear and read about Coach Sullivan, the more and more I believe he may be one of the best coaches in the area. What a great quote this is from Sullivan. "We said, 'Tonight is going to prepare you for something harder than this. There are a lot harder things in life than losing a basketball game.' You talk about the 'Big Picture' and having perspective. I've only seen Cooper play a couple times and regardless of the score or the calls from the refs, Coach Sullivan coaches every possession.... I'd let my kid play for this guy. Congrats to Cooper Downs for coming through in the clutch last night!!!! Big free throws!!!! Great kid and great family.
  13. Pretty low scoring game for Boone. 46 points is their lowest scoring output of the season. Did Cooper 'slow it down' or did Boone run their half court sets to keep Cooper in it? I'm used to seeing Boone in the 60's and 70's. Just curious....
  14. I wasn't at the game and can't find a box score anywhere, however, I heard Miller for the Breds had a big night. I know he does a lot of the little things for this team that go somewhat unnoticed in the box scores (rebounds, picks, back screens, off the ball stuff, etc.). It's good to hear that he put the ball in basket in this one. Was anyone there that can provide a recap of the game? Handy Manny? NCC 13 -2 in their last 15 games with a game against the Cru this evening!!! Not a bad way to wind down the regular season and to get ready for districts and regionals......
  15. I will be speaking to the family today and will provide an update...... I know he was extremely upset, and rightfully so, that evening. I know he and the family appreciate the kind words written about him on BGP's! He is a very good kid with a bright future on and/or off the court. Tomorrow night in Florence is Senior night, so I am sure he is looking forward to that.

  18. I recommend that you DON"T tell her you created a thread on BGP's requesting suggestions on what to do........:sssh: That could be a very big potential downfall..... Good Luck.....
  19. With a win, the Rebels can clinch the #1 seed in the 33rd District. Thoughts?
  20. How did it end? I heard there was controversy...... Very surprised with the outcome.
  21. Yup, thank you. I couldn't recall if it was Freshman or JV last year. Sorry for the mis info. Should be a good game on Sunday.
  22. I would have liked to have seen a rematch of NDA v. Boone Co.. The first one was a battle with NDA prevailing in the end. I believe NDA's only loss in 2 years was to Sacred Heart. I want to say NDA JV went undefeated last season.
  23. Conner won't have to deal with Superman!! At least for this game. :sssh:
  24. I heard he is still a few weeks away if at all. He either just got fitted for a brace or will be getting fitted for a brace within the next few days. I don't know the whole story, however, from what I am gathering, surgery is inevitable. I believe they said he cannot do anymore damage. Again, I get all this information second and third hand so I can't say with 100% certainty. Fingers are crossed for the young man though!
