I think UK's loss today likely keeps that from happening. I feel like ND is going to win out and will be in a bowl that is tiered just below making the playoffs.

And I would disagree again. I've had two favorite football teams (I know ?) for as long as I can remember. I've been a fan of the Irish longer since their games were actually on TV when I was little and I wasn't allowed to stay up and watch UK games rebroadcast at 11:00 P.M. So for me it's Notre Dame 1A and UK 1B. I've watched every game that each of these teams have played thus far this season, and I think if matched head to head that UK would win rather easily. Notre Dame has not beat a decent team all year. And as much as I hate to admit it, that will be true even if they win out the rest of the way and finish the season at 11-1. For once I am in full agreement with the Notre Dame is overrated crowd. That win at Florida St. wasn't very impressive, they were lucky that they survived. FSU's only home wins this season are against Syracuse and UMass. And let's not forget that home loss to Jacksonville St. Virginia Teach has now lost three consecutive home games, I guess Enter Sandman just hasn't had the same affect on opponents this season. Their best win all year is vs. a 4-3 North Carolina. And Wisconsin is down this year as well at 4-3. Those 4 wins are vs. Eastern Michigan, Illinois, Army, and Purdue. So I guess Purdue is their best win. In my opinion Florida would crush Purdue. Notre Dame often struggles on offense. They've not yet truly resolved their QB situation. I'm not sure they would be able to move the ball vs. Georgia and their defense is not as good as UK's either. That's not to say that UK doesn't have any issues as they certainly do, but head to head I believe that they are much better than Notre Dame this season, which is something I never thought I would ever say.

I believe that Shavir Wheeler is expected to start at PG. Wheeler was 2nd team all SEC last year while at Georgia. He averaged 14.0 points per game (17th SEC), 7.4 assists per game (1st SEC, 4th NCAA) and 1.7 steals per game (5th SEC). I'd say that's a definite upgrade over last year's starter going into the season Devin Askew.

Not sure how effective that would actually be. A lot tailgating can occur off campus and besides anybody that wants to arrive drunk can do so regardless of the location at which they imbibe.

I agree this was a slap on the wrist. Unless I'm wrong the behavior of their fans was unprecedented in college football. It is not comparable with rushing the field so why the comparable fine?

I think DC hangs half a hundred at least. Only question is how well can Apollo keep up. DC wins this game.

Considering that we are now in the NIL era, perhaps they should go a different direction?

Coach O has got to be the first coach to lead an unranked team to an upset of a top 25 team and get fired the next day. The timing just doesn't make a lot of sense. Heck if you know your firing him at this point in the season might as well have done it before the game.

I got to see Owensboro first three or four games of the season. Carbon is a difference maker for sure. Will add an extra dimension to their offense if he comes back at full strength.

Baseball as a lot bigger issue to overcome for that to happen than just who is the face of MLB. In my opinion they are so far behind the NFL or NBA that it isn't even comparable.

Michigan would have to win 14 games in a row vs. Ohio St. go get back to 50/50 since 2000.

I agree with what others have already pointed out. The important games on the schedule are still left to be decided. Sure Michigan is 6-0 but they really haven't beaten anybody yet. None of the four Power 5 teams they've beaten currently have a record above .500%

I don't think that it is necessary for a school to consider NIL with regards to any rules or policies it puts in place regarding their student athletes. It's not the schools job to facilitate the athletes ability to secure NIL contracts. That policy may have negative repercussions for the school with regard to recruiting, but again I don't see how NIL is something they should have to consider of account for.

I was on campus at Notre Dame on Wednesday showing my daughters around campus. We were there for about 2 hours. The entire time Enter Sandman was blasting on repeat from the practice field. You could hear it all the way over at the Basilica which is on the opposite side of the campus.

I think another factor to consider is whether or not Stoops would continue to recruit at the same level if he were to lose Vince Marrow. He seems to be as much as a reason for the programs success as Stoops.

I know the bar is higher for Cal but I think several coaches would be capable of coming in and having a similar level of success. 37 wins is nice but more a few losses would easily be forgiven if one were to win more than one title in a decade. If a couple of games had gone the other way Cal could easily be in a different atmosphere but as things stand he's only won one title. I think plenty of high level coaches would have interest in the job. Perhaps I'll be surprised when the time comes to replace Stoops but I just don't see UK football has having the same level of attraction. And outside of Stoops nobody has really proven that they put together a string of successful seasons in the last 50 years. UK basketball sells itself to some degree. Anyone who isn't focused on middle school players should be able to recruit here. I'm just not sure that the football program is at the level that it will sustain itself once Stoops is gone. Tubby wasn't exactly know as a big time recruiter even still he assembled some pretty good teams. One more Final Four and I think he would be remembered much more favorably.

I'm not so sure about that. To this point three of the four coaches prior to Cal won as many championships as he has and two of those three have almost as many final fours. Cal might have caused a bit more buzz but that could just be a factor of the social media era. The results on the court are quite similar to what UK fans have seen before. Stoops on the other hand seems to be entering uncharted territory for a UK football coach. Especially if we are taking like 1980's and on.

Not that it's makes much difference but apparently it was only 49-0 at the end of the 1st quarter. I was trying to find a box score or any other details that might shed some light how this went down, but their Twitter feed didn't have a lot of details. There was at least one defensive TD, but otherwise it doesn't appear that they called off the dogs until halftime.

Just curious, what metric are you using for this stat. Looking at stats on ESPN it looks like UC is tied for 12th for points allowed, 26th in total yards, 18th in passing yards, and 66th in rushing yards. These are per game averages. Doesn't seem like that would translate to 2nd.

Kelly is by far the most successful coach ND has had since Holtz. Unless Kelly chooses to move on, ND would be foolish to move on. I've been a fan since as long as I can remember which is the mid 80's. Despite the lack of any recent national championships, ND is having a better run than they had in the last 30 years. That 91 or 92 Rick Meier lead team was the last time the Irish were as good as they are now. That team was better but you know what I mean.

Even if he hadn't, not having a long term successful coach doesn't make it an overrated program. Not every successful coach opts to stay at the same job for their entire career. Does Paterno's victories prevent Penn St. from being overrated. Southern Cal's winningest coach is only 21 victories ahead of Kelly. Does that make the Trojans the second most overrated and overhyped team? Notre Dame has two other former coaches who could have easily surpassed Rockne if they had elected to stay. Holtz was only 5 wins behind when he chose to move on and Parseghian was just 10 wins behind when he retired. Parseghian closed out his career winning 21 games in his final two seasons, so it is very likely that he and Holtz both could have tied or surpassed Rockne's win total with just one more season. Kelly has also benefited due to the fact that while coaching the Irish his teams have played more games per season than any of the others mentioned above. Rockne's teams typically placed only 9 or 10 games per year and only exceed that number once when they played 11. Whereas Kelly's teams have played 13 games every year of his tenure but two when they played 12 games. All that having been said, the bar for all time coaching victories with Notre Dame football was set tragically low when Rockne on the heels of a 19 game winning steak and back to back national championships was killed in a plane crash at only 43 years of age. Otherwise who knows how many wins he cold have achieved over the rest of his lifetime.

How does that have any bearing on whether Notre Dame is overrated?

Whomever they hire will be their 5th coach in less than 10 years. Hard to argue that it's that great of a job at the moment.
