I've seen several studies that have shown a benefit to using HCQ. It seems that the common conclusion is that HCQ if given early in the course of the virus infection has had a positive effect, however, when given once the infection is severe it has not helped. Other countries such as India have been using HCQ to treat a significant amount of their patients and even as a prophylatic for it's health care workers. The initial study that was widely publicized from the Lancent had to be retracted due to using corrupt data from a third party. Several Dr. across the country are still using HCQ. Just read an article this morning about an Evansville police officer (who so far is the only officer in the agency to test positive) He is in his mid 50's and required hospitalization for 5 days. He was given HCQ and within 24 hours his condition drastically improved. Maybe this is just more anecdotal evidence but I've seen so much of this, I can't help to think that there must be something to it.

Considering the next successful Corona virus vaccine will be the first of it's kind, good luck waiting for that. It's not likely to come soon, if at all.

If masks work, than why is there any debate as to whether or not kids should return to school this fall. Just make 'em all wear masks. Problem solved. If they don't work, than why the charade of making them mandatory. If something is shown to make things safe fine, but it seems to me a lot of these regulations are just window dressing so that people can feel like something is being done. Case in point is the NFL's rule that came out today making it illegal for players to exchange jerseys after the game. So JJ Watt can chase Tom Brady around for 60 minutes, grab, hold, sweat on, and fall onto him, and it will be fine, but somehow trading jerseys puts them in danger.

Apparently the bears are pretty active around Gatlinburg right now. A co-worker of mine just returned from there last week. Over the course of the week they had about 20 encounters with bears, even seeing them in the middle of the city streets. The final encounter was the (best?), while packing up his SUV parked in front of their cabin a bear actually got inside the vehicle and he had to lure him out with a bag of popcorn. The video he posted on Facebook was pretty crazy.

I don't know that I would go that far. Once they transitioned to NTI the level or work or instruction that my kids received dropped substantially. Can you imagine trying to send a kid to kindergarten via NTI. I can't imagine that it would be nearly as effective as a traditional school setting.

From what I have seen around town, it looks like a lot of kids are out playing together anyway. Not sure how doing so in a official capacity for a youth sports organization really changes anything.

Tennesse has tested almost twice as many people as Kentucky per one million and their death rate is almost half of Kentucky per one million. How do you figure Kentucky is doing better than Tennessee. The only reason their case count is higher is because of so much more testing. Double the test in Kentucky and what do you think would happen?

That test along with the antibodies test IMO easily show that it was here way before we were even aware and that way more people have had it and recovered than we know. At the same time more people would have died as well. At this point I don't think we will ever have accurate numbers as to the amount of infections or deaths and therefore cannot know the actual mortality rate.

Good to hear. I personally have seen very little in the media stating that people have got off ventilators once going on. Maybe my perception is wrong but it seems like they have only delayed the inevitable.

There not really testing everyone though. Germany is at 10,962 test per 1 million people while South Korea is at 9,301 per Worldometers, while that US is at 6387. They are doing better but they still only tested about 1% of their populations.

But just wait two weeks.....

Given that we have only tested about 22k of 4M+ I don't really think that this means all that much.

So even if the CDC was overestimating by a factor of 10, than the actual death rate would be so much less than what people keep publishing.

Yep flattening the curve isn't supposed to reduce the amount of infections, but it will spread out the period of time in which people get infected and reduce the load on the health care system which hopefully will reduce the amount of deaths.

The link goes to a press release from yesterday from British American Tobacco which states that they are working on a way to develop a vaccine for Covid-19 using tobacco plants. I don't really understand the science of why tobacco plants might offer a faster way to produce a vaccine, or whether this is a realist path to a cure. What I found most interesting about the press release is that the work is being done in my hometown of Owensboro. I had no idea that this place even existed. It would be pretty cool if the cure to the pandemic originates or is at least contributed to by work done right here.
