  1. First play of the game was an 80 yard TD from Morris to Morgan. A huge night by one of the most underrated players in NKY, "Lawrence" Taylor Centers. Holmes didn't double team him on the line and he was in the backfield making tackles for loss nearly every play. The rest of the D-Line played really well also. Morgan was step for step with Peterson and shut him down, though the QB had little time to let the play develop. AJ Collins needs to take next week off and heal as he is beat up pretty bad. He sucked it up and had nice yardage and at least one TD but the Campbell County game was a rough one physically for him. Tyler Morris had nice throws and runs as well. Cooper 5-0 with another shutout and I believe they have Scott next week in the first week of District play.
  2. I see another shutout unless there is a CB that falls down or something. I don't see Beechwood driving the ball down the field with all of their injuries.
  3. Scott has had a very weak schedule so this will be their chance to show what they have.
  4. I know you are new here, but you will learn that UK#1fan just post to get people fired up and for some reason people keep falling for it.
  5. Hate to hear that. I figured a shutout but when Boone loses top two players, there was little doubt. Wonder how many HHS can score against Cov Cath.
  6. Also, Cooper's kicking needs a lot of work as that could cost them in a close game. Campbell County's kicker was awesome!!
  7. AJ Collins made the one handed interception. Great kid!! Cooper killed themselves twice jumping off sides on 4th and less than 5 yards to go. One was on about the 7 yard line which gave CC 1st and goal at the 2 or 3. Can't jump there, make them earn it on 4th down. A couple of nice throws by Morris to Morgan in the first half for TD's. Cooper's D-Line, led by Taylor Centers was in the backfield quickly tonight. The CC QB had some nice runs after the 1st quarter. Cooper missed some tackles at the 2nd level but overall held CC in check. Great job Jag's, 4-0.
  8. RE, I respect the QB at Conner a lot and have always cheered for him to do well. But, in last years game, Conner did not have any success until he went out in the 3rd and they brought in the back-up. I remember standing next to some Conner dad's that I know and they couldn't believe they did better with him out. NOW, it was one game and maybe the Cooper kids were more fired up to stop him as he was a focal point and maybe they let their guard down a little when he went out. Look at the tape and add up the performance from both and see. I don't have a tape but I bet I'm correct in this one. Should be a great game coming up. I hope both teams can stay undefeated and make it a super atmosphere over in Hebron.
  9. This game is what I expected. Boone's style has always gave Cooper fits as they get their 4 yards up the middle and eat the clock. Boring game to watch. The field was watered all summer long, maybe bad soil mixture, but turf would be nice and we will not see it anytime soon, IMO. It doesn't seem Boone gets shut out very often, so great job by the Cooper defense. Offensively, when Boone is "bringing the house" on every play after the first drive then I would change up the offense and throw some short quick throws. The WR's were out wide with the the DB's playing seven yards off and could easily do a slant and be on their way. Oh well, they won the game and I would not be a very good coach anyway.
  10. They have a District Championship in their fourth year, does that count or does it have to be a State title?
  11. I know I don't lose sleep over high school ranking's and which team is better, etc.. but re-read your post and show where mine was flawed. You constantly down play Cooper because they lost one playoff game, even though they were the #1 seed. Chalk it up to bad match-up, untimely penalties, or just plain old fact, they lost the game. So because of that, they deserve no "pat on the back" for what they have done so far this season. Conner won a couple of playoff games LAST year so they should get all the love. Get over it. They both have good teams. I guess this is a flawed post as well.
  12. No disrespect to this team for Conner but it's not close to being the best in their history. The State Champ team was very good and I think the Stellman led team with the older Fogle is a lot better than this team as well. West also led some strong teams.
  13. RE, why do you let this stuff get to you so much. It's clear you think Cooper has never earned ANYTHING in their brief existence, which is fine. But, the fact is, they won the district last year and start this year with a complete whipping of 6A Ryle who always has a very solid program and then had a running clock against defending 2A State Champ by halftime. Conner beat a ususally solid Boone team which is also a good win for them. But, in your mind from what you see in Conner practices and scrimmages and one regular season game, YOU think Conner should be rated (talked about) more but others don't agree so you get all upset. Cooper and Conner both have good teams and it's okay for another school other than your sons to get some love. It's really okay and no big deal on the ranking's as we all know they mean nothing. Hang in there as your team will get to prove everyone wrong. It should be a great game against two solid teams.
  14. Part of me thinks this will be a close game, but I also thought the same about the game with Ryle. I figured they would handle Holy Cross as I thought they lost a lot of talent. I think Cooper wins by a couple of scores but it wouldn't surprise me if it was a real tight game. Boone's style with the run game has always gave Cooper fits as they ate the clock up, however, Cooper's D-Line play is real good this year. I say Cooper 28-14.
  15. They certainly didn't have the outcome they wanted. They had 2-3 TD's called back and got burned by the same play 2-3 times but that was a good learning experience. IMO, if you don't make it to the finals, advancing another round or two doesn't do much for me but I'm sure I'm in the minority.
  16. Most have put Conner ahead of Cooper this year and they may beat them, time will tell. But, Cooper handled Conner on the field last year better than the score indicated and then Conner lost more starters than Cooper so I didn't see the reasoning. Not to say that Conner won't be better THIS year, but I felt Cooper got very little love when comparing the two teams based off the above scenario. Good thing they get to play, should be a good one.
  17. Why would it not be clean? Just curious to this statement.
  18. No way they are as good as HHS, but neither is anyone else in NKY. I would be interested in a Cov Cath outcome but I think Cooper would be slight under dog against them as well. I put them #3 at this point.
  19. Yes, a lot if discussion back then. It was Cooper's 2nd year and the thought was after getting beat pretty bad the year before they would try to be more competitive but with Frosh classes it can be very different from year to year. Cooper tried to get other NKY big schools to play but schedules were full. After a cancellation on the small school schedule Cooper was able to get Scott Couty to play.
  20. This years Senior's had a very good Frosh season as well, beating Cov cath and HHS I believe in the regular season. Cooper was just better this year. A lot of time to prove their worth.
  21. I don't think the creation of Cooper had a big impact on Boone County. Most came from what would have been Conner's district. Cooper, however, has had tremendous support over the last year or so. I'm shocked how many fans supported basketball and football. Now back to the thread.
  22. Big night for AJ Collins as well. My guess would be about 160 yards. Channel 5 and 19 were there so should see some highlights tonight. Collins and Morris were interviewed after the game by channel 5.
  23. Should be Cooper. The Senior class for Cooper were the Frosh team that went undefeated in the small class division and Ryle had one of the better teams that year in the big school but the two never got to play. I know you can't compare the two but both schools argued back and forth who would have won. Morgan for Cooper took the opening kick back for a touchdown and Cooper rolled from there. The hyped Ryle QB struggled as did their total offense against the Cooper defense. Cooper QB, Tyler Morris, gets little talk but IMO is one of the top QB's in NKY. I saw Thomas More coach at the game and heard he was possibly looking at Tyler. Hope it works out. Congrats Jag's and good luck to both teams the rest of the year.
  24. I wasn't there either but I heard Cooper beat SK so it must have been pretty even, depending who you talk to.
