  1. I say Cooper goes up by 20, clears the bench and wins by 15.
  2. Clyde, you were on the other side and may have had a better view. Did you feel it was a charge?
  3. Cooper has been playing for four years and I don't believe have ever finished a game with Campbell County. The two years we went there it looked like a nice field and then it rained so hard after an inning or two we had to wait to leave the parking lot. Then the two years they came to Cooper, we returned the rain favor
  4. Yes, it was. Cooper was up 58-38 before clearing the bench and Conner had a run to end the game. Conner has parts but Cooper's defense was smothering and there was no offensive flow to Conner's play. #45 forced way too many shots and was clearly frustrated. #25 fouled out and probably had a couple extra not called and he looked shocked every time the ref blew the whistle. Another charge called on Shelton where the defender acted like he was hit with a cannon.
  5. I will go with Cooper 65-53. Supposed to have some snow roll through around 3pm so I hope it gets played tonight.
  6. It's not the dirt that is rough so turning it is what everyone does and it is fine. The grass part the last two years was surprisingly bad just for the fact the place looks so nice there to watch a game. I watched balls hit in warmups that seemed to go six different directions before reaching a fielder. I'm sure the coaching staff is working on it but it is rough.
  7. I don't see any reason other players can't develop just because Brandon is on the floor. He is by the far their best option and should get his looks.
  8. Graduate early or drop out?
  9. I agree. They earned what they did last year but as I watched them play a couple of times, I was wondering how they were winning. They have a couple of nice players that I know that are good and I do not know most of them. They did it last year and congrats to them for pulling off a good run.
  10. Dixie is one of the best to look at and to watch but the infield is as rough as a gravel driveway. Cooper's infield is as nice as can be but the outfield is still a work in progress. Coach Bieger and his helpers have put a ton of work in the place.
  11. I agree about the crowd not being too bad. It's a big gym and I thought Cooper traveled pretty well so I don't think the "mommies" were scared to leave Union. I can't understand how people expected a blowout. Everyone has basically been sick so i doubt fans stay home because of it.
  12. Yes, really. The others don't have a current kid playing in school. AAU coaches have kids at several schools and they aren't "his" kid. MY opinion. Feel free to disagree. No big deal. Regular season game. Both teams solid.
  13. A few thoughts.. - Holmes and Cooper both played hard for four quarters. - Cooper gets the "charge" call on them about 10 times a game and most are questionable at best. Maniacci was bowled over and not called on Holmes. - One ref I believe was Drew Mays (Ryle player) dad. Non-district game but IMO should not do any 33rd district opponents game just to leave any doubts. - Third quarter Holmes seemed to get 5 turnovers on Cooper and fast break layups off couple of Cooper reserve guards. Went from 2 pt to 8-9 pt lead. - Maybe just bad break but early in game Morgan goes down while Cooper has ball on offense. They play for 10-15 seconds as as McNeil buries a 3, the refs blew the whistle to get Morgan off the court. Shot doesn't count. - Bolden handles the ball well but thought Cooper did pretty good job on him. - Holmes won the game at the FT line. Very solid there. They made 16 to Cooper's 4!!! - I actually left the gym thinking if these teams meet 10 times, Cooper wins 6. Just my opinion. Cooper would need to keep Morgan on the court and have Maniacci's ankle get back where he can run and jump. Good regular season game between two solid teams.
  14. Come on TOG, you are better than that. You are throwing in Coopers face they didn't win the State Title while NCC did?? Really?? Fact is, it was game one and Cooper didn't have two starters and lost by two. NCC may be a better team but on that night Cooper more than held their own with the roster they played with. There are four "top" teams that can probably beat each other on any given night. I just didn't expect you to compare football outcomes in a State Title game where it was a great accomplishment to get there for any school. Of course people will start to throw out the fact that it's been a while since Cov Cath was in a final and that wouldn't be right either.
  15. I don't see Cooper getting blown out by anybody based on the way they control tempo and play very good defense. It seems the last couple of games they have started to "play" for four quarters, or at least 3 plus. I was dissapointed in their play versus St Henry but since then they have played much more inspired basketball. IMO, they will show up big time as they seem to really play well against top notch teams. They will be focused to knock off the last of the unbeaten.
  16. I don't follow HHS but maybe the SR's aren't as good as some on here think. I don't think you should be entitled to minutes just because you are a Senior. If they aren't getting the job done maybe the coach is trying someone else. Again, I don't follow them so I'm just looking at it from reading the posts and not biased by having a kid that plays there.
  17. Nice to see the Jag's play a full game today. Keep improving!!
  18. I said "no disrespect" and you say I accomplished it anyway. Oh well, I tried to be nice. I've only seen St Henry this one game and I clearly think Cooper is 30 points better when they come to play. Evidence, they were down 7 and went up 15 (22 pt difference) in less than a quarter and a half. If they come to play the whole game then it's easily 30 point difference. St Henry played hard and I hope they do well in their district but the talent level is wide between the two schools. JMO..
  19. My take on Cooper is they are not a very "mature" team for having so many Senior's and Junior's. They simply play to the level of their competition. It's almost like they are bored most games unless it is a rival or a team ranked #1 (NCC). Last night they had about 10 unforced turnovers, it seemed anyway, in the first quarter and Hathorn and Maniacci had two fouls each and they were "ticky tack" at best on Maniacci, but they were called and so be it. They sat after about 3 minutes each in the first half. The third quarter, after Sullivan probably peeled paint at halftime, you would think they would come out on fire. After a minute and a half Sullivan pulled all 5 starters after they were down 7. The reserves came in and led them back to a 2 point lead and then the starters came in with a minute left in the third and played better and won by 12 after being up 15 or so. I know most of the kids and expected more from them as a whole. I think they still play hard but not focused on the little things... sloppy turnovers!! No disrespect to St. Henry but Cooper should have won by 30 if they come to play like they did in part of third and fourth quarter. They were down 7 and was up by 15 all within about a quarter and a half. They will still be a tough out because they will play "up" to the top teams in the rankings. Just my opinion.
  20. Big time shot for AJ. He couldn't get open all night and I think only had 4-5 points all night but drove and hit the 15 ft leaner while being closely guarded. CLUTCH!!
  21. I was impressed with Ryle's perimeter defense as Cooper couldn't get an open shot all night. Maniacci went off as no one could guard him. I'm guessing around 25 points with double digit rebounds. #5 for Ryle could not miss and hit contested jumpers all night. Cooper went up by 7-9 points a couple of times but then fell asleep on transition defense and let #2 drive uncontested to the rim a few times. Cooper still has to learn how to put teams away once they get the lead but Ryle fought hard as well. Cooper had to miss 10-15 free throws which they had been doing well from the line.
  22. I agree on Morgan as well. I was surprised to see him do so well against Timmons but he was close enough to where he could make a play on the ball every time they threw his way. Very good season for him.
  23. Not to me. Coming off the rival game with Conner the night before and still adjusting to the full team with limited practice. And, Cooper plays aggressive defense and the officials are calling it tight. AJ Collins had 4 fouls against Conner and I believe fouled out last night for the first time since grade school. I didn't make it last night but at least two of the four fouls against Conner were very questionable. They are winning and will get better as the season goes on.
  24. Never said it was. Just thought switching them at 9 and 10 due to on court result.
