  1. Just trying to make sure I know all the excuses. Conner was better that night!! I could say IF Cooper didn't turn the ball over as well, IF they made the 4th and 2, IF they didn't retreat and let Fogle convert 4th and 2 on the fake punt, IF Morgan doesn't drop the pass in the red zone before half, IF Cooper didn't have their ONLY bad tackling game of the year, THEN Cooper would have won easily. IF Cooper didn't have their one bad game of the year THEN there would be no discussion. RE, just messing with you as I really don't lose sleep over mid season polls but if you read your posts all year they are full of excuses for every game. It really "feels" like Conner has lost 4-5 games if you look at the story lines of each game and how close they were to losing to bad teams this year along with the Dixie and SO losses. Congrats to your son and Conner for pulling them out in the end but without all the late game heroics you would have 3 more losses but to the kids credit, they pulled them out which builds character. Good luck the rest of the season unless you play our Jag's. No more replies from me as it really isn't an issue.
  2. I guess you could say they are similar due to their records being one win apart. If you take into account Conner won games in the last minutes over Ryle, Scott and Campbell County while Cooper handled those teams with ease, then I don't think they are as close. Conner had their best game at home, against their biggest rival, on Homecoming night after coming off a loss to this rival the previous year. Conner definately earned the win that night but overall Cooper has been more impressive.
  3. I believe there was a thread pre-season with predicitons and I said CCH would win by 3 TD's. If Fogle is out I say CCH wins by 4 TD's. That is, of course, that CCH leaves their starters in and doesn't "rest" anyone important since they have their playoff spot already wrapped up. CCH offense will score at will and CCH defense seems to put up some very good numbers as well. RE, the earlier question asking which defense is better, Cooper or CCH is a legit question no one has answered. I haven't seen CCH at all so I don't know but Conner was so fired up against Cooper that I don't think they have come close to that defensive effort in any other game. Emotion plays a lot into some match-ups. If you look at the bigger picture, Conner has struggled in wins over Campbell and Scott and lost to Dixie and South Oldham and I don't think CCH would have any issue blowing out any of those opponents.
  4. Things like this are exactly why I don't think parents should coach their own kids in high school. Sometimes it may be unavoidable if you are the head coach but I would avoid it any way possible. Just my opinion though and don't need agreement. :thumb:
  5. Congrats to Louis Maniacci!! I hear he keeps getting better and every week I see him he seems to be taller. Should be a fun year to watch the Jag's.
  6. Next time I miss the game I will have to get my updates from you My other source led me the wrong way as I still have the text confirming what I wrote. As long as the win was correct!!!
  7. Closer than I expected.
  8. Congrats to the Jags. Way to bounce back. I heard is was 14-0 late in 2nd and SO completed long TD pass. With 22 seconds left Cooper was throwing for some reason and a pick 6 happened to tie score at half. Cooper scored midway in 4th and held on. I heard Morris played whole game which is huge.
  9. I agree, and with SO's offense I would run AJ as much as he can handle and eat the clock. They can mix in Ricky Martin who runs hard for a smaller player but is quick.
  10. Sorry to say, but if Morris is out I think South Oldham wins. At this point Cooper can only hope Morris can play by the time the playoff's start.
  11. All the plays have been mentioned so I won't repeat them. Conner wanted it more from the start, period. Cooper looked like they were on ice skates and had very poor tackling and costly turnovers and dropped passes in the redzone. Conner was the better team tonight and deserved to win so congrats to them. Hopefully no one "lays an egg" and they can meet again as it was a huge crowd. Lastly, high schools would make a ton more money if they found a way to handle concessions with large crowds. Every game I've been to this year there have been 50 people in line all night, all schools, not just Conner as they have 2 areas and still can't keep up.
  12. I heard Mullins is the choice at Beechwood.
  13. Pre-season it was mentioned that Steve Spurrier would be attending this game to see Barker. Is this still the case?
  14. I don't like the numbers game so I was providing more facts for you. I doubt Cooper holds Conner to 7 either. I think if they hold them to 28 they can win.
  15. I see what you are trying to say but go to the other side of the equation. Cooper only gives up around 7 a game and Conner scores 30 plus a game. So when you figure in both sides of the ball Cooper has the NUMBERS advantage if you want to play that game but it all means nothing as it comes down to the match-ups of the two teams that are playing Friday.
  16. Wow, it's a good thing I don't log-in in the evening's as I may never get to sleep. It's two solid teams that know each other well and should be a great atmosphere. I have no idea how the game will go as I have not seen Conner this year. RE, you question what offenses Cooper has faced to get their good defensive stats, well, they have faced basically the same teams as Conner. I think there is little question Conner's offense is better and Cooper's defense is better. It may come down to who turns the ball over the least!!
  17. Wow, I take the weekend off and it takes a lot of reading to catch up to all the threads. As far as Cooper playing kids both ways, when there is a big drop from the kids playing both ways to those that would back them up, then you have no choice. Not one game this year have kids left from cramping like they did in years past (as far as I could tell). So, better conditioning or taking better care of their bodies has worked. IMO, unless you have a possible bright future at the next level (ex. Barker) then I say play your best both ways as much as possible. Barker would be a very good LB but I don't risk that if he has a chance to be a high D1 QB. I'm not sure how many players go both ways for Conner but if they use their top 11 for defense they would have to be better on defense than the numbers they have shown. If you have the talent like a HHS then having a platoon is the way to go.
  18. Huge night for Fogle. Nice young man..
  19. I wasn't at this game but Conner and SO always put up points but they give up a lot as well.
  20. Congrats to SK, but they would lose to Cooper :jump:....
  21. Cooper rolled easily. Scott scored their last TD on the 2nd string. Cooper had a balance passing game to several receivers and ran well.
  22. I figured a shootout. Unreal offenses and no defenses. It is now a must win for Conner vs Cooper if they want to win the District. I am interested in the match-ups of these two offenses versus Cooper's defense. Going to be two tough games.
  23. I'm not shocked at this score. Congrats to SK..
  24. I haven't heard much buzz on this game for being the first district game. I'm hoping Cooper is not overlooking Scott while waiting to play Conner next week. Just because you handled a team the year before and have about everyone back, doesn't mean it will be an easy win. Weird things happen in high school sports. Focus on one game at a time.
