Clyde Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Ryle was up 21 14 in the 3rd qtr. Conner scored on the last play of the 3rd qtr and then again in the 4th. XP was blocked. Ryle drove down to the redzone but failed to score. Pass into the end zone fell incomplete.
RomanEmpire Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Nice win for the Cougars. "Way" to sweep the county.
Clyde Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Big night running for the ball for Conner. 285 yards. Barker 21/140/ 2 TDs Fogle 10/84/1 TD Way 9/58
StraightShooter Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Congrats to Conner and great effort by Ryle in a game that could have gone either way. 4th down pass from Jake Ashley to a wide open Nathan Davis in the end zone sails just barely high and Conner hangs on. A very close game throughout as the Raiders continue to improve.
StraightShooter Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Conner made 2 huge 4th and fairly long plays to score the tying TD and keep the winning drive.
Clyde Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Conner made 2 huge 4th and fairly long plays to score the tying TD and keep the winning drive. One was a 4th down pass to Way that moved the ball into the RZ.
Clyde Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 How many personal fouls did Ryle have? I can think of 3. On one play there were offsetting post-play PFs. Why did the official walk it off 15 yds against Ryle and then turn around and walk it off 15 yds against Conner ending up at the spot where the tackle occurred? Standard?
StraightShooter Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 For some reason, they walk off 15 yards each way on offsetting personal fouls. Needless protocol.
Queen of Pink Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Rain entire second half made the game very interesting. Wet conditions favored the running team. Great game Cougars. Keep the Momentum.
StraightShooter Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Yeah, it favored Conner and their stud running QB. Ryle was winning 21-14 when the field was dry.
Clyde Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Yeah, it favored Conner and their stud running QB. Ryle was winning 21-14 when the field was dry. Ryle's first 14 fall under "flukish" or "gift-wrapped." Great read by the LB of the first pass which was a seam route that he stepped in front of and returned 20 yards for a TD. Later, Ryle's QB throws a pass 20 to 25 yards down field that konks his receiver in the helmet. Ball bounced towards Conner goal line where another Ryle kid was waiting. Pulice then finished that drive with a nice run. By the way, Pulice is a tough kid. Strong runner.
Clyde Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 Let me throw my normal disclaimer out before I question coaching. The next game I coach will be the first football game I've ever coached so.... Non-district game against a big, favored rival. I think the score was 7-7 in the 2nd qtr. Ryle had the ball on Conner's 36. 4th down and less than , say, 5. Why wouldn't you go for it? Why punt? Ryle punted and about 5 or 6 plays later Conner had a TD. What did you have to lose their by going for it?
StraightShooter Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 A great defensive play is not a fluke. The pass play was perfectly thrown and Ryle did get a break on the tip. The fact is that Barker is the main difference between the 2 teams. No disrespect to Cam Fogle who is a great player. Take away Barker who made great runs all night and 2 very clutch 4th down completions and Ryle wins no question.
