A great defensive play is not a fluke. The pass play was perfectly thrown and Ryle did get a break on the tip. The fact is that Barker is the main difference between the 2 teams. No disrespect to Cam Fogle who is a great player. Take away Barker who made great runs all night and 2 very clutch 4th down completions and Ryle wins no question.

 

I didn't call that play a fluke. I put that under gift and gave the LB full credit. My point was that the Ryle offense struggled to put drives together.

It was 21-14 Ryle in the middle of the 3rd when the rains came. Correction QP.

Coach Trosper employs a kickoff strategy of pooching the kick. My guess is it's at least partly aimed at stopping a big return.

 

With having such a strong punter in Fogle why not have him punt the ball? It would hang for a long time allowing your return team to cover. My guess it would lead to worse field position for the opponent. Ryle's first two drives after a pooch started at the 35 and then on the near side of midfield.

I am just refuting your nonsense. It was not raining the whole second half, just the last quarter and one half. The field was totally dry until the middle of the 3rd quarter. Ryle was ahead 21-14 on a totally dry field and you are running your mouth that Conner would have rolled on a totally dry field. Close losses do not matter - Ryle did not shut down the Conner running game sufficiently and suffered a loss. I am just refuting the point that you are inaccurately trying to make that Conner would have rolled on a totally dry field. They had 30 minutes to roll the Raiders on a totally dry field and did not do that. The Cougars won 14-0 when the field got wet thanks to 2 great 4th down passes by Barker. Conner breaks the 3 year losing streak and looks like they will earn the 3rd seed in their district. Congrats to the Cougars on the win as I stated on my first post.

Also, considering that it rained pretty steadily all week, the field was not completely dry, not even close. I will echo QOP's post, that on a dry field, Conner steamrolls Ryle. I don't have the exact numbers, but I would imagine that Conner did not throw the ball even close to their average per game. The rain, and yes, a wet field throughout the entire game put a damper on Conner's passing game. Ryle has little to no passing game to speak of, so it really had no effect on them. If Conner is able to air the ball out, like they usually do, Ryle doesn't have a shot at staying in the game. The weather conditions greatly helped your Ryle Raiders last night. Just not enough.

 

Also, what's your take on the bush league move that Ryle pulled before the game even started, coming to the Conner sidelines, to run through their little cheerleader tunnel? This is the second week in a row that a team has tried to pull this "intimidation" tatic on the Cougars, and it didn't work either time. I didn't expect Cooper to do it, but I would expect nothing less from the wonderful folks out in Union.

Did anybody else think that was a fumble by Conner's QB that would have been a Ryle TD instead of an incomplete pass? Think it happened in the 3rd quarter. Not sure how an official can call it that way when the ball goes backward. But they did!

I wasn 't at the game last night but I wass last week and the team when they came out on the field did nothing wrong. I understand that the visitor's locker room is at the same end of the field that Conner comes out of.. For years, and I mean years (10+) of watching games at Connr High School, I have never seen a team do what Cooper did last week, and what Ryle did last night. They came to the Conner side lines, i'm talking sidelines, within 15 feet of the conner players and have their little banner held by the cheerleaders to run through. Teams are to come out of seperate sides of the field, or if they must run out of the same endzone, the opposing team can stay on their side of the field and run out. There is zero reason to come to the other sidelines other than to try to make some sort of point. In my opinion, it's a very unsportsmanlike move, and shouldn't be tolerated.. Well, I guess it wasn't tolerated, becasue both teams that did it got beat. I'll say this, in my playing days, if a team would have pulled a stunt like that, there's no question that there would be flags thrown before the game started.

Ryle's first 14 fall under "flukish" or "gift-wrapped."

 

Great read by the LB of the first pass which was a seam route that he stepped in front of and returned 20 yards for a TD.

 

Later, Ryle's QB throws a pass 20 to 25 yards down field that konks his receiver in the helmet. Ball bounced towards Conner goal line where another Ryle kid was waiting. Pulice then finished that drive with a nice run.

 

By the way, Pulice is a tough kid. Strong runner.

Both teams have to enter the field through the same area. Ryle went to the far corner and Conner came out through the near corner. No intimidation tactics. That is really funny and bush league of you to make an issue out of n DTH said the game would be close til the kickoff. It looked like it went down to the next to last play of the game.

Well I can only speak on Cooper's behalf. My boy siad it wasn't anything like that. He said there was no intimidation thing at all, they simply went that way because it was the shortest route to where they were supposed to run through the tunnel at. If it was an initimidation thing thenn as they ran by Conner's team they would of said things to the players, nothing was said and they didn't run through the players or anything like that. They simply wwent to their corner of the endzone to run through the tunnel. Unsportsman like...that is funny. Sorry, but ripping helmets off players is a little more unsportsmann like than a team going to the corner of the endzone they have to to run through their tunnel. Glass houses and all.

 

As I said, if they wanted to intimidate, they would of talked trash to Conner's players aas they went to the endzone. I think what is bush league is people who think doing what they did is bush league. I have a little advice for you all if you don't like that other teams have to do to get to their corner of the endzone, change sidelines or move your lockerooms. How about that? While you are at it, how about fixing the visitors dugout at your baseball field also so the visiting team doesn't have to sit in right field.

 

I garuntee you one thing, and I wasn't at the game last night. I garuntee you Ryle didn't take that route to their tunnel to intimidate, just as Cooper didn't last week. I tthink you and RE have been watching too many Miami Hurricane games from the 80''s on ESPN Classics lol
