  1. Yeah but common sense dictates that you don't drop after a 70 - 0 win, no matter who you play.
  2. St. X hasn't lost to Manual in about 20 years and beaten Male since 2006. No reason to rank them ahead of X until they show they can beat X on the field. Too many people are believing all the hype about X's demise this year and they haven't seen them. Also, X beat Simon Kenton 35 -0 and Fern Creek 70 -0. Not bad for a 5th ranked team.
  3. Avid ... keep it up we enjoy a breath of fresh air! Keep respecting your boys. Maybe some people will understand they might not be as bad as a lot of people will have you believe. The coaches really like this group. Let's enjoy the next two weeks and see how they do with Riverdale and Bowling Green.
  4. This ranking loses a lot of credibility as Newport Catholic is rated ahead of St. X. Not possible.
  5. Larry.... is this RB beter than Ronjae? If so, he must be pretty good.
  6. Doc I've been having trouble with concussions this year. Any idea why?
  7. Bert--- Actually X was subbing liberally by the second quarter. Due to the 3 defensive scores and running clock they only ran 35 offensive plays. Mattingly looked very sharp - threw some ropes and finished 6 for 8 for 138 yards and two TD passes. He also scored on a run in the first half. A big shout out to our new X posters - they were right. X does have 5-6 quality running backs. LaMondray Clemons didn't play and Brandon Moore only had one rush for a 12 yard TD. Charles Walker is going to be fun to watch develop,he can do a lot of things. Antonio Sloan, Dakota Jones and T. Percell all had some nice runs.
  8. I hope the yapping stops! But as long as UK#1 fan is on board it will continue. I'm really surprised that someone on this forum with over 3500+ posts would know so little about Kentucky High School Football! Instead of eating crow maybe he ought to start with dessert - a big dose of humble pie! Good job last night Tigers!
  9. You think this will keep UK#1 fan quiet for at least a week? His pregame analysis did not show much knowledge of Kentucky High School Football.
  10. I can still see Michael Montano scoring on a 90 yard run in the 4th quarter to send SK home.
  11. Coach J - I applaud you as someone who is honest and does things the right way. You are a breath of fresh air andsound reasoning on a site that sometimes lacks both. Good luck to you and your Bruins this year. I have seen all your St. X games the past few years and will attest that your program is building and on the right track. Start the year out by making KY proud with a win over Byrnes. Speaking of Byrnes, has there been a contingency plan for the slate of games scheduled at Papa Johns that Saturday. With the heat the way it has been, what happens if the afternoon games cannot kickoff due to high temperatures? Would they be moved to local fields and played later in the day when the heat index is down? Hopefully these out of state teams will not travel all the way to Louisville and have games cancelled.
  12. I agree, how can you rate this many teams over St. X? Other than Trinity they have not lost to a team in Kentucky since Michael Bush's senior year at Male. Until Kentucky teams prove they can beat St. X. I don't see how you can rank them over X. They've beaten Manual about 20 years now, always seem to thrash Scott County, beat Male last year with two sophomore running backs starting for injured players and beat Simon Kenton's greatest team ever in 2009. Dixie Heights? Don't think many people would favor them over X.
  13. Watched the video. The QB better put on some weight quick to be able to take the hits the X defenders will deliver in the upcoming scrimmage.
  14. So don't keep us in the dark...what are the interesting things that happen at CAL?
  15. Forgot to mention that I saw Jared Lornzen live and on film too!
  16. I vote for DaMarcus Smith. I have seen Rick Norton, Paul Karem, Tim Couch, Chris Redman and both of the Brohms in high school. His arm strength and the velocity he has on the ball is the best I've seen. I really thought he would be an all purpose receiver/qb ala Randall Cobb until I saw him in person and on film. Maybe the new commitment at UL will give Joker the opening he needs to get DaMarcus wearing Big Blue colors in the fall!
  17. Play about 15 on offense and 22 on defense at the same time.
  18. Same 3-0 score that St. X beat Trinity in the finals in 1997. Chp Mattingly recovered a Trinity fumble that resulted in a field goal to win. Harkens back to a time when teams played great defense.
  19. I'll say St. X over Ryle this year. St. X has not lost to a Kentucky team other than Trinity since 2006. Until someone in Kentucky shows that they can beat X or Trinity it is useless to say so in these threads. Ryle had a chance last year to beat St. X and came up on the short end of a 66 - 17 score.
  20. Trinity had a chop block against a St. X offensive play last year in the 6A championship game last year. It was gainst a DB hiting a blocker very low on a tight end screen. Seldom called but in this instance it was dangerous, out in the open, and the right call.
  21. Trinity 49 - Ryle 21. Everyone talks about Trinity's passing game but when they are most dangerous, they have the running game to compliment it. They will use the pass to set up the run and take advantage of Bishop and Dawkins. St. X beat Ryle last year in the second round 66 - 17 using the pass and run. Trinity will step it up tonight. I do not think Ryle has bridged the 6A gap in a year, homefield or not.
