  1. Does Ryle really have a chance against Trinity? I think not! Ryle lost to St. X last year in the second round of the playoffs 66 -17. Travis Elliott rushed 14 times for 39 yards and Connor Hempel's passing numbers were 12 - 23 for 156 yards with 3 interceptions. Ryle is making a huge jump in competition against Trinity. My prediction is Trinity 49 - Ryle 21.
  2. The fumbled lateral inside the 5 for a TD 1 minute into the game did rattle them. Lamont ran the ensuing kickoff back 55 yards and the Tigers failed to move the ball. Then they forced a fumble by Quick and started again around the Trinity 35. X was intercepted inside the 15. Two great scoring opprotunities squandered and they really lost their confidence. This time we will see a back field of LaMont McMurry, Devontae Beach and Daylen Hall in scoring position. Quite a difference in talent from the first game. Questions: who will play QB for X and will their defense step up and hold Trinity to 24 points or less? If so we could see another hard fought tight classic these two are accustomed to playing.
  3. Based on fact ... no conjecture involved here.
  4. Item #6 states that all players' numbers are to be visible. Wonder how many teams out there have received film from Trinity that is not the wide angle version showing the receivers and the routes they run....just curious.
  5. With Alex Mattingly getting in the game late against Ballard, who does Trinity game plan against as X's starting QB? Brohm has shown that he is also a really good tight end when Mattingly was the QB.
  6. LaMont did not play against Ballard the first game, he was injured in the scrimmage prior to the first game.
  7. I think St. X will try to eat up the clock with their three headed ground attack. Final Score St. X 34 - Ballard 27.
  8. Correction...it would be the second X loss at Brother Thomas More Stadium.
  9. Maybe you ought to have some first hand knowledge before you make statements such as the above. The X backfield with Devontae Beach, LaMont McMurry and Daylen Hall has totally transformed this team. Beach has been a real challenge for defenses. His speed has become evident and at about 245 lbs he has been a bear for opposing defenses to bring down. Joker Phillips ought to look at him as a quality fullback like John Connor.
  10. I saw Manual lose to St. X. 38- 7. they didn't compete very well that night. Not sure if they are able to make a step up in the playoffs. Playing a tough schedule is not an indicator that they will be ready. They were only able to beat Butler in their district.
  11. Hey All Tell..how about taking your attitude somehere else?
  12. St X. had 295 yards rushing with LaMont McMurry leading the way with 200 yards on 26 carries. Alex Mattingly was 11 for 16 passing for 146 yards and two touchdowns. Devontae Beach had one touchdown rushing and another on an eleven yard reception. The changes the X staff made are begiinig to take shape. Second week in a row they have had 23 first downs. Total offense tonight was 441 yards to go along with the 510 yards last week.
  13. Very astute post! It also coincides with the second series of the game when Brent Curley broke a bone in his foot. X game plan totally out of sync when Curley kept playing until being relieved midway thru the 3rd quarter.
  14. I agree sophomores may be awestruck tonight when they feel the crowd and situation. Hopefully X's three Senior All State Candidates Daylen Hall, Devontae Beach and LaMont McMurry will have huge games and lead the way. This will be their 5th game versus Trinity. Can't overlook these guys talent and experience in this rivalry game. If Beach can get to the QB on a consisitent basis this may have a direct bearing on the outcome. St X 21 - Rocks 17.
  15. St. X also has some great defensive coaches in Bart Bruner and Bill Glaser to name a few others along with Todd Walsh. Their change a number of years ago to the two safeties along with the nickel packages have resulted in several stellar defensive effort against the Rocks. To allow the high powered Rocks offense to only score 20+ points in 3 of the past 17 games is incredible. The Trinity Sophs will be put to the test Friday night.
  16. I think of greater importance is the fact that St. X had players such as Victor Anderson, Brent Curley, Deuce Finch, Jeremiah Neal, Brian Buehner, and now LaMont McMurry and Daylen Hall plus tremendous offensive lines. Their spread offense has been hard to contain when their quarterback has speed.
  17. Isn't Brian Buehner playing for Petrino at Arkansa?
  18. I checked the KHSAA site which has the score back to 1998. Here you go: 1998 X 13 - T 9 2004 X 36 - T 18 1999 X 28 - T 14 2005 X 48 - T 16 and X 6 - T 14 2000 X14 - T 27 2006 X 0 - T 10 rain game 2001 X 14 - T 7 2007 X 24 - T15 and X 28 - T 34 ovetime 2002 X 0 - T 16 2008 X 30 - T 6 and X 21 - T 28 2009 X 32 - T 7 and X 34 - T 10 Total of 17 games since 1998. The won/loss record stands at X - 9 wins and T with 8 wins. Can't get any closer than this! A really surprising stat is that St. X has outscored Trinity's offfense by a combined 348 points to 265 points in these 17 games. An average of X @ 20.5 points per game to T's 15.6 points per game. Something that is really intriguing is X has scored over 20 points in nine of these games and Trinity has scored over 20 points only three times in 17 games. Really wouldn't have predicted that beforehand! Maybe we ought to be talking about how defense comes into play again this Friday night. These numbers tell me that X's defense may be the huge factor again. 2003 X 6 - T17 and X 14 - T17
  19. St. X beat both Male and Ballard without LaMont McMurray. His presence definitely elevates the X offense. His first rush Friday night was a 50 yard TD. He had 189 yards rushing at halftime. His presence will open up their entire offense as he will also be used as a receiver out of the backfield. They also have the possibility of playing Daylen Hall and Devontae Beach in the backfield together with McMurry now. Totally differnet team than they have shown so far. Thre All State senior candidates . Beach has the potential to be a D-1 fullback along the likes of Joe Tronzo and John Connor. Everyone has witnessed Daylen's speed.
  20. I thought heard them say they were both out of school. The two soph running backs, Clemons and Moore have both stepped up to replace Hayden. They had 113 and 68 yards respectively, to compliment McMurry's 196 yards. They formed quite a rushing trio as the offense totalled 458 yards on the ground.
  21. Defense is setting the tone for X. They will force a slugfest in every game and be happy to do so. Male only gained 36 yards in the second half. Morris and Giddens are quality backs and each came into the game with 400+ yards rushing. X held them to something like 41 and 12 yards respectively. Maybe when X gets their backfield back in place they will see rapid improvemnt. Who would have thought a month ago they would be playing all the sophomores? In August, Coach Glaser bemoaned the fact that they did not have much depth and experience. The past few weeks they have been forced to play young kids on the offensive side of the ball. This could be a blessing down the road as they are slowly building some quality depth on offense. Really was a gutty effort on both sides of the ball to get the win.
  22. Specht's powerful attacking defense will force the young talented Rocks to grow up quickly. It should be very interesting.
  23. Conor Hundley #4 has a lot of power but he also glides like Shaun Alexander did. He is avery deceptive and a joy to watch if you have no rooting interest. Steven Daniels #8 is a tremendous linebacker/defender, he covers the entire field. Duggans #10 has a powerful leg, he usually kicks off into the endzone, negating any type of return. He is also a fabulous defensive back. Trinity could be facing a long field through out the game and must considtently make first downs against this defense to prevail. They play aggressive team defense....quite a test for the young Rocks. Cincy St. X 31 - Rocks 21.
