  1. What - like where are they attending college?l
  2. This thread and the St.X vs Male thread kind of typify the lact of interest in a 5 week playoff. This thread has only had 18 responses to date and St.X vs Male has 16 so far. Here we are in the second week and not much interest stirring yet for the playoffs. Doubt if 6A will spur any interest after next week's matchup.
  3. Having seen Central many times over the last 4 -5 years I don't see any way that Wayne Co. comes within 3 TD's of the Jackets. Central scored 78 last week and called of the dogs. Thier schedule against 6A teams will propel them to Bowling Green again this year. Score: Central 48 - Wayne Co. 13
  4. I saw them and they were an awesome team. You know thinking back what has happened to Kentucky football statewide? The teams in 6A not named Trinity or St. X have fallen off the map when compared to teams in the 90's and early 2000's. We were talking Friday night how Lexington should be able to field better teams. In the not so distant past, teams at Bryan Station (Eric Shelton's group) and Henry Clay (Shane and Aaron Boyd's teams) competed strongly with the Big 2 . Male and Manual are down, Henderson County and North Hardin competed with top level teams. No one seems to be at the level of a decade ago.
  5. They have to play better run defense. In the first game won by X 41-0 Austin Davis ran wild with about 145 yeards on the ground and two receptions for 26 yards. Treyveon Percell also filled in admirably. However, Charles Walker did not play against Male the last time out. Now Male has to come up with much tougher run defense against the Tigers trio of outstanding rushers. I don't see this happening. I see a Tigers win by a 48 - 14 score.
  6. I believe the Tigers are on 790AM tonight. Maybe Tony Danza can confirm!
  7. The Bombers Defense has been the best overall that I have seen in the past 3-4 years. They held Trinity to 14 points earlier this year. They are very well coached and combined with the size, speed and talent they possess makes them a very formidable foe every year.
  8. We are....on a bus with John Spears and Tony -- radio voices of the Tigers!
  9. I think a lot of people on here are missing a valid point. In 2009 X beat Trinity 32 - 7 in the regular season and 34 -10 in the State Finals. No one complained about their offense then. In previous years they tallied 48, 36, 34 points against T in big wins. The exciting state final that T won in overtime 34 - 28, X led 28-21 until the final seconds when T tied the score. The missing element since 2009 is that Swabek took over as defensive coordinator replacing Terry Bean. Having coached at X for many years, the X staff knew Bean's schemes and how to attack T's defense. To his credit, Swabek has employed a much tougher defensive scheme with several better atheltes now. Everyone comments about T's offense, but their defense has been a tremendous contributor to their success since 2009. X needs to score against T to be in the game at the end. This Friday's contest against Cincy X will provide a great test for Lou X's offense as they strive to improve for that November game with T in a few weeks.
  10. Did anyone answer the question as to whether Hatcher is playing?
  11. St. X explodes tonight with 466 yards total offense. Austin Gahaher was 10 of 15 for 185 yards and three TD's. Austin Davis rushed nine times for 157 yards and one TD. He also caught two passes for 26 yards and another TD. These two guys really took up the slack as Charles Walker did not play. St. X rushed for 281 yards. Gahafer was especially impressive with great accuracy on several long completions. They seemed to play much looser and looked to have a lot of fun. Real impressive turn around after last week.
  12. Amen to you Tiger09. His sarcastic wit wears thin, probably got cut from a team.
  13. Not sure where you got your numbers but you are wrong. Gahafer was 2 - 5 -1 int for 6 yards. People who didn't see the game are making comments that are baseless. X was able to build their 20-0 lead based on a blocked punt and several defensive stops which resulted in short fields, especially in the first half. They didn't need to pass due to the short fields. The strong winds played a role in this too as punting into it was difficult at best. They had the lead and were comfortable running the ball, using up clock and shortening the game. Kind of what they did to Moeller mid way thrrough the third quarter and all of the fourth. I know Trinity's defensive line is a strength of their team, but in a close game in the second half X's running attack could make this a little closer than most people expect. I'm not a coach, but if they can keep T's playmakers off the field for periods of time they have a formula in place to compete well.
  14. The primary point was the BG fans I spoke to at halftime thought X would put 40 - 45 points on the board that night in Bowling Green. No one knew at halftime outside the X locker room that Gahafer was injured and would not play in the second half. If X can put 27 on the board against Moeller's size and talented defense they will score at least mid - to high 30's against Central. Central is very good, but does not have the numbers, size or talent of a GCL power like Moeller. X wins 38 - 20.
  15. St. X has put points on the board this year. In regulation they have scored 31 against Bowling Green, 28 against Dutch Fork and 27 the other night against Moeller. Bowling Green had not given up over 21 points in their 17 game winning streak. Against Bowling Green -- St. X had 23 points at halftime and the BG fans I spoke to at halftime thought X would score 40 - 45. Then Gahafer did not play the second half due to injury. I think they will score in the mid to high 30's against Central this weekend. The defense needs to start coming around and making more three and out defensive stands. When they do this will be a very formidable X team. Central will be another big test. The kicking game has always favored St. X against Central. I'm thinking a 38 - 20 X win is possible. Congrats to Ty Scroggins and Central for playing the schedule they do.
  16. Thanks for the kind words Avid. Actually, I listen to what the coaches say and just try to paraphrase.
  17. Not only has Charles been extremely impressive, fellow juniors Austin Davis and Treyveon Percell have added power and speed to the offense. They are giving X quality play especially in the 3rd and 4th quarters of games against Durch Fork, BG and Moeller. This allows Charles to play in a slot which opens the offense even more. They are all distinct players and come playoffs they could be quite a force for teams to contend with. I was still very impressed that X was able to control the 4th quarter against Moeller's size the other night by rushing 19 times in the final quarter alone. They are able to play stronger as the game goes on because the three of them are not being overused throughout a game. Take care of business this week!
  18. Terrific game. St. X came back valiantly after being down 31 -10. Moeller is huge and played extremely well. The X drive late in the 3rd quarter which cut the lead to 31 - 17 was their best drive of the year. Walker, Davis and Percell were all huge conributors in the second half. The X team that can become a real factor was shown by the 19 rushing attempts in the 4th quarter. They were going against a huge team and really took it to Moeller. Hats off to Moeller! They are big, talented and disciplined. Their 6'5" and 6'6" wideouts and tight end are difficult to defend. Even with good coverage they were able to go up and make several great catches to keep drives alive. Their safety is even 6'6". Great effort by both teams.
  19. I believe the rules are such that if a kid transfers due to a financial hardship they are allowed to play immediately. Going from private to public is a lot easier than the public to private route. Good luck to Brandon.
  20. Everyone knows Charles Walker rushed eight times for 63 yards. St. X QB Austin Gahafer completed 6 0f 7 passes for 72 yards in limited action. Limited staff at the Courier theses days.
  21. Note to HC coaches: Cover Nacarius Fant the moment he walks out of the locker room.
