  1. I guess the major topic will be who will take over the QB postion with Brad Kragthorpe gone?
  2. I agree that Daylen Hall might be a threat at receiver for St. X. next year with his outstanding speed. Really would like to see him run the "Wildcat" spread offense too.
  3. ESPN filmed part of Matthew Mitchell's halftime talk to the team. He said lay the wood to them in the first 4 minutes of the second half.We are a 40 minute team not a 20 minute team. Do so and they will wilt! Looks like he knew what he was talking about.
  4. 16 minutes left.. Cats up 52 - 35. Looking great!
  5. UK playing at 7pm Thursday and 8pm tonight would have a direct effect on attendance.
  6. Tough road ahead for the Rocks! Any thoughts on what their record will be?
  7. Don't forget that in 2006 Sacred Heart's 3-time defending champs did not even make the 7th region tournament as one of the top 2 or 3 best teams in the state. The other teams in their district voted for a blind draw and not a seeded draw. The blind draw forced two top ten teams SHA and Assumption to play in the first round of the district. Assumption prevailed that night eliminating Sacred Heart from a chance at a 4-peat. Not fair for either team to play such a game as the first game of a district. LexCath probably enjoyed the results of this game as it helped pave their way to the championship.
  8. I concur we have heard for months that Trinity would own State for the next three years. On another note what will the removal of Terry Bean as defensive coordiantor mean for T's defense. They looked pretty stout to me the past few years.
  9. I would be surpirsed if Jeremiah Neal did not play D-1 somewhere. His versatility in moving over to the defensive side of the ball mid-season was impressive. He really showed himself to be an excellent defender. He was outstanding in the State Title game playing both ways, winning the MVP award. Next year I would guess that Daylen hall, LaMont McMurry, and Devontae Beach all garner serious D-1 interest.
  10. Amen to that, Daylen had a great season, as did Jeremiah, Wyatt and a whole boatload of Tigers! Congrats again to the coaching staff for the countless hours of work and for being away from their families so much!
  11. Coach Lucas sounds like a nice guy. Manual needs to figure out how to beat St. X., otherwise it could be more of the same results.
  12. They had a lot of young talent in 2009. The big questions are who will replace Joe Nichols and will the new staff keep Manual moving in the right direction? There have been a lot of comments on here about administrative interference. Tough job ahead for a new coach.
  13. First time since 1971 that the first team does not include a player fron St. Xavier or Trinity. I am surprised that Daylen Hall or Rob Melillo did not make it.
  14. Am I the only one who thinks this thread has run its course? Bottm Line: both had great championship teams this year and their respective seasons are over. Finis!
  15. I thought Luke Brohm made impressive strides when he stared the last two regular season and first two playoff games when Brian Buehner was injured. He had a great command of the offense and threw several strikes for touchdowns. His improvement and arm strength were very encouraging for next season.
  16. Winning a championship lessens the withdrawal pain. Being on the other side is not fun during the off season.
  17. I was one of the fortunate thousand or so fans who made their way onto the field last night following the St. X. win. People get on here and take an instant in a game they are spectators at and try and interpret someone's body language or comment to prove a point. There were hundreds of fans around the St. X. team listening as Coach Glaser addressed his team as Champions. He said that when they look in the mirror when they get home they will see themselves as 2009 State Champions. What concerns him the more is that in the next 5, 10 or 20 years he wants them to see a "Life Champion" whenever they look in a mirror. He said that if anyone of his players ever needed anything down the road he and his assistant coaches would always be there for them. That is the essence of St. X. football and Coach Glaser. The dads who have sons that played for Coach Glaser know this about him. He has a true love and passion for all his players today and those he has coached in his 28 years. Great dominating win Tigers! You make us all proud!
  18. Alan...ooh low blow! Why not have UK keep their stadium open for UL to use the first weekend of December if the Big East schedules a game for the Cards then. Papa John's is then available for the KHSAA finals and we'd see how many Card fans would travel to Lex. for a game. Great statewide cooperation!
  19. I listened to John Spears and Tony Burke call the St. X.- Eastern basketball game last evening. They really know both football and basketball and they do an excellent job for high school announcers. Some colleges ought to listen to some of their tapes and consider them for their broadcasts. Larry Bisig puts out a quality broadcast with Spears and Burke at the mikes.
  20. Yes, I heard they are going back to their old neighborhood in Tulsa...leaving Sunday. They want out of Louisville. Their sons have been subjected to some very classless fans in Louisville. Probably a bittersweet week for Brad.
  21. I think a major factor in this game will be how St. X uses Jeremiah Neal. He was their best running back early in the year and then moved to defense after all the linebackers were injured. He has been fabulous at linebacker and has run mainly in goal line situations. If St.X's linebackers are healthy moving Jeremiah to offense could really cause problems for the Trinity defense. First of all, Neal, Montano, McMurry and Hayden have been terrific runners in the playoffs. This would give X the option of putting McMurry back as the slot receiver and get the ball to him in the open field where he is very hard to stop. The running attack with Buehner healthy will still be very potent with Neal getting more carries. It will also cause Trinity to have to defend the entire field as X would run the spread offense. Trinity has shown problems defending the spread in the past. I'd love to see Daylen Hall on the offensive side of the ball also. That would be an awful lot of speed to defend.
  22. You base your opinion on one half of football. You obviously don't know much about Brian Buehner. He was 17-24 for 209 yards Friday night at Greenwood.
  23. Does anyone buy Pitino's spin of this can be a "beneficial loss"? A loss is a loss anyway you look at it.
  24. Alan...you sound really pumped...Good Luck to the Tigers!
