  1. I think they are capable of two good halves but maybe not this week against this Cincy St. X team. Their strength and speed are hard to handle.
  2. You don't seem to have much basis for our predictions. I saw Trinity defeat Cincy St. X. last year. Cincy X is a formidable foe but not the be all and end all for high school football.
  3. When was the last time 84% of the people thought Trinity was going to lose a game? I'd venture a guess that maybe back in the mid 1990's when they lost to St. X 40-0. If this is not the case, you might have to go back to the early days in the 1960's to find such a large victory prediction for a Trinity opponent.
  4. Loubbfan....You must not have seen St. X this year. They threw for 3 TD's Friday against LexCath. In the 3rd Qtr alone they were 3-4 for 168 yards. Did not attempt a pass in the 4th Qtr. LaMont Mcmurray's 78 yd TD pass was a thing of beauty as he made a run that was spectacular. The Lou X playmakers will showup this Friday. Will be a dandy!
  5. Some things to consider in what could be a very competitive game. Wyatt Gray has kicked all 14 of his kickoffs well into (and out of) the endzone for touchbacks. Forcing the opponent to start on their 20 yard line and not receiving the benefit of a good kickoff return is huge. Having to go 80 yards plays into a defense's strength. Secondly, punting to Daylen Hall has been poison to opponents so far this as his returns have been spectacular. Certainly he has the speed to compete with these fast Ohio boys. Thirdly, Brian Buehner has been impressive throwing the ball this year to an array of speedy receivers. Their yards after catch has been huge. Look for Brian to tuck it in and exploit any run opportunites this week. This is a facet of their offense which will make the defense cover the entire field and may open some nice running lanes for Brian.
  6. How does Trinity match up with Elder? Friday night ought to be interesting.
  7. Me too! I just don't think LC has the physical strength to match up with X.
  8. St. X 56 LC -7. I say there will be a running clock. Brian Buehner stirs the drink as the playmakers Jeremiah Neal, Lamont McMurray, Daylen Hall and Jay Hayden gain more experience. Buehner was excellent against Ballard. I think he completed 10-14 for 144 yds and 2 TD's. Two road games to start the season will get them ready to face Cincy St. X.
  9. Thoughts on this week's 6A matchup? Ballard comes in with a big win over PRP and it is the season opener for St. X.
  10. Wyatt Gray is the St. X. kicker. He's a senior and has been the varsity kicker since the middle of his sophomore year.
  11. Strong thanks for the synopsis. Good luck this year, maybe HC will be a team for Trinity to contend with on the road to Bowling Green.
  12. St. X. has as much speed as they have ever had. At several positions. They will score at least 6-7 times with their starters. Brian Buehner will keep HC's defense totally off track. He will soon get the statewide acclaim that is forthcoming. They key is can Henry Clay match them. I say no. This is not a track meet. The dominance of the St. X lines will be instrumental.
  13. Highlands 56 - Manual 13. Long night for the Crimsons.
  14. A lot of short term memory on the sight recently. Matt Brutscher, St. X. QB last year was one of the finalists for Mr. Football. Don't be surprised to see St. X's Brian Buehner in the same category this year.
  15. CoachJ...Thanks for the update. Sounds as if you all have lost a lot of talent on boths sides of the ball. Good luck in 2009!
  16. You guys are talking about some great speed for Daylen Hall He sounds to be in the same company as Victor Anderson. If memory serves me, I think Victor was timed at 4.37 at a camp at WVU after his sophomore year. Coach Rodriguez offered him that weekend. Wil Daylen stay on the defensive side of the ball? Where is he being used on the 7 on 7 games?
  17. I heard that their numbers are down, several kids have given up football. Any CAL fans out there to shed some light on the program?
  18. I think Assumption only loses one or two seniors. Plenty of juniors played extended minutes this year and seemed to jell in the District and Regional.
  19. Regarding the over and back violation called late on E'town, no one has mentioned that when the ball went back across mid court Asia Matheis came up with it on the floor. If it wasn't an over and back then Iroquois got the steal.
  20. Congratulations to Coach Ron Ferch and the Rockets. Friday's match up with Sacred Heard will be difficult for Coach Ferch having to face his former team Sacred Heart and Coach Donna Moir. Everyone close to the SHA program knows the value that Ron brought to their 3 year state championship run. All that will go out the window though as soon as the ball is tossed up. These two competitive coaches will have their teams ready! Good luck to all!
  21. Final from the 7th Region. Good job Rockets!
  22. Does Mercy have a chance in the 7th Region tourney? They seem to be up and down this year.
  23. I read this entire thread and I don't believe there has been one mention of Brian Buehner. He was exceptional last year in a backup QB role. He even played a great game at tailback at CovCath late in the year. Last year at this time no one mentioned QB Matt Brutscher as a finalist for Mr. Football in 2008. Don't be surprised to see Brian mentioned as a possible finalist in 2009. His quickness and burst of speed, accurate passing, and total game knowledge remind me of his dad's abilities. Way back then the Courier-Journal named players of the decade and Rick Buehner was the player of the decade for the 1970's.
