Ummm...Boone was pretty darned good last year. Remember they made it to the Regional finals before barely falling to a hot SK team. However, they were not good at all this year. They still have talent just not as much. There are too many kids in the school to say the pool is down, they are just not coming out. It may have something to do with the basketball program doing well and a new wrestling program. I personally feel that the way Boone Co. schools are set up, there is no way the entire county can succeed at team sports. IMO, Boone Co. is and should be considered a city school, such as Holmes or Newport, and pull students from a much smaller area in Florence (maybe even dropping in class). Allow the more rural Cooper, take the students out past Hopeful. It is crazy...you live in Oakbrook and you go to Boone? less than 3 miles from Cooper HS. But Boone Co. will not be down for long and Cooper or Conner will not replace them permanently.

A: First off, nobody is going to deny him the respect that he earned, as most saw throughout the playoffs what he is capable of. Soft spot? Maybe over in "Birdland", someone might want to tell Dale that he had a potential Mr. Football winner. I don't think Dale had a soft spot when he was racking up 70 points per game with JeLo and Gino, back 2 back years. :banana: B: Why and how he could get the Paul Horning award...Politics??:idunno: AC was a great athlete at every position. But to win an award for a position that he only represented for 2/3 of the season is beyond me. Nevertheless, he is deserving... Sorry, to finally answer the question....Yes, he could play at ND and I guess only he and the new coach would know if there were an offer or a pending offer..

Highlands and Ryle. They play twice again; 2010 may be the year in which a NKY team has a legit shot at taking away Highlands unbeaten streak...but that is such a long ways away.

Ryle's 4 losses came to SK, 6A State Champion St. X, and 5A State Champion Highlands, twice...Granted, the outcome of each game was not very close so it is hard to determine if they were beter than Manual or not. But all of those teams have a heavy dose of seniors, Ryle returns much of their offense and defense. :thumb: And for the record, I would rank St X, Simon Kenton, and then Highlands.

Why does get brought up over and over...They would be successful, obviously, at any class level they choose to play at. We know they have 3A size but at the same time they have about 25-30% of their male students playing football....thats where that arguement gets thrown out. Oh, and they don't have a wrestling program to water it down..

I agree! However, in most years WKY would win the matchups in 3A and 4A, simply because NKY doesn't have any teams in those classes(Holmes, this year). :lol: I will give FC much deserved credit, they have a very nice program and have surplanted NCC as the favorites in 2A each year. But moving forward, it will likely be Beechwood, NCC, and Highlands or CovCath playing for the state title year in year out. Now only if Holmes and a NKY 6A school could get into this conversation. In 06' NKY had 3 teams out of 4 classes (NCC, CovCath, Ryle) and 08' NKY had SK, Highlands, NCC, and Beechwood, 4 of 6 teams.

You're right, someone had to say it. With that being said, these programs that should "suck it up and go home", what do you suggest they do? The arguement has been made that the 6A playoff system has been set up to please the Louisville fan base. Not only does the system benefit those two schools, the KHSAA encourages it. The state would lose money if Simon Kenton were playing Scott Co. in the Finals.

There has been many years, particularly in the 90's, in which Cov Cath and Highlands were both the best teams in their class but met in the third round. Next Friday, Boyle vs. Bell. It happens in almost every class where occasionaly the two best teams in the district/region meet prior to the championship. The best school in Louisville, IMHO, should be decided prior to the state championship; Since there is no seeding...Now if there were seeded teams, St. X would no doubt face T in the finals every year, barring some sort of upset. But for now, the KHSAA purposely stages the playoffs so the best teams (Private schools with 100+ players) meet in the finals...at least every other year. This is something that public schools will have to live with.

X T Scott Co. Greenwood X deserves to be ranked ahead of T because of the head 2 head win. However, T has their number in the postseason. They should both roll into the finals.

The one thing that will set these two teams apart is the strength and the speed on defense and special teams of St. X. Simpson still has 150+ all purpose but doesn't find the endzone enough. St. X 49 SK 21

Collinsworth is as fast as any player for Louisville St. X. But there is only one Collinsworth...X has many of them. #2 and #3 are both lightning quick. I think if X and Highlands had played, X would win 3-0. Highlands fumbles too much...Good luck to both in the playoffs.

Only the best! Most of the college bound athletes from Highlands over the past 20 years have been outside of the Ft. Thomas Pee wee league and courtesy of the NKYFL or BCPFL. Newport will be fine. This off-season they will dedicate themselves to the weight room and notice improvements as early as this spring.

Who is to say Beechwood and NCC won't make it to the finals? Also, Ryle and SK is still playing. It's the Playoffs, stranger things have happened. Like SK avenging a 42 point loss to BC last year in the playoffs...

If X rolls through their region, what makes you think they will beat Trinity in the finals....history???

You wouldn't think...but Trinity does not have Miles Simpson. Also, SK has a couple of lineman Trinity would love to have. Different team, different season. However, you may never know due to NKY having to go through St. X. The best two teams may truely play in the regional finals, just as X and T have met many times.

Not even remotely close. It's ridiculous to think that the two plays are comparable. The turnover would have occured when the game was 7-0 and Ryle would have it on the 25 going in. The TD made the score 22-7 and it was off of a 1st and Goal play from the 1. I agree that he probably was not in but to compare the two plays and relate their significance would be obtuse. :ohbrother:
