4. Henry Clay (Regional Championship Loss to Scott County)

5. Ballard (Second Round Loss to Male)

6. Male (Regional Championship Loss to Trinity)

7. Bryan Station (Secon Round Loss to Henry Clay)

8. Shelby County (Second Round Loss to Trinity)

9. Ryle (Second Round Loss to St. Xavier)

10. Manual (Second Round Loss to Simon Kenton)

Trinity is 2. if you get to the finals and lose, you are number 2 no matter what.

^ I disagree with being #2 simply by being runner up.....but I do still believe we were the second best 6A team.

All I'm really saying is Trinity should be #2

You do realize these were the rankings going into Week 11, and this is just to look at the rankings and see how accurate they were at the end of the season?

Maybe the rest of Kentucky is starting to realize that Trinity may not be the powerhouse they used to be.

I would argue that Simon Kenton played St. Xavier closer then Trinity did.

Trinity is 2. if you get to the finals and lose, you are number 2 no matter what.

 

I guess this only applies when the two L'ville powers are opposite of each other in the bracket.

 

Even though Ryle took a beating from St.X, I think they were closer to #5 than to #10.

With St. X. having played against and having closely watched both teams, it is my humble opinion that Simon Kenton was a much better team than Trinity this year. This was another of those years where the true championship was decided before the scheduled final.

 

The talent level in Trinity's senior class was average at best, while their junior class was virtually non-existant outside of Bishop, Kragthorp, and Nix. Although the sophomore and freshman classes were laddled through and through with some of the best talent to grace a Kentucky high school field, it's tough to win at the varsity level without a lot of strength in the upper classes. The Trinity coaching staff definitely did an outstanding job guiding this overachieving group of Rocks all the way to the State Finals.

Ryle's 4 losses came to SK, 6A State Champion St. X, and 5A State Champion Highlands, twice...Granted, the outcome of each game was not very close so it is hard to determine if they were beter than Manual or not. But all of those teams have a heavy dose of seniors, Ryle returns much of their offense and defense. :thumb:

 

And for the record, I would rank St X, Simon Kenton, and then Highlands.

Sure. Titles in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and runner ups in 2000 and 2009 is definitely a sign that a program is in decline. Let's keep things in perspective.

We have 1 season since 2004 that we didn't win the title and "Trinity may not be the powerhouse they used to be?" Are you serious? :lol:

 

Titles in 2001-2003 and then 2005-2008 and we are suddenly has beens? On a down year we made the title game. We lost to X, worse than your Pioneers did quite clearly but the fact that we made the title game on a down year is something of which to take note. This Rock squad was young and I look forward to bringing it up next season.
