With St. X. having played against and having closely watched both teams, it is my humble opinion that Simon Kenton was a much better team than Trinity this year. This was another of those years where the true championship was decided before the scheduled final.

 

The talent level in Trinity's senior class was average at best, while their junior class was virtually non-existant outside of Bishop, Kragthorp, and Nix. Although the sophomore and freshman classes were laddled through and through with some of the best talent to grace a Kentucky high school field, it's tough to win at the varsity level without a lot of strength in the upper classes. The Trinity coaching staff definitely did an outstanding job guiding this overachieving group of Rocks all the way to the State Finals.

As a history major, you surely must have some concept of what it was like in the trenches in France during WWI when shells from Big Bertha came raining down upon your head. To survive you snuggled with a big stack of SANDBAGS!! :scared: :isurrender: :scared:

Simon Kenton played 4 of the Top 10 teams listed: Saint Xavier, Henry Clay, Ryle and Manual. From 1-4, how would you rank these teams? Also you said that Ryle should be closer to #5 than #10, but do you think that Ryle was actually better than #10 Manual?

 

 

This is a very good question. St.X no questions asked would be #1. If SK played the Tigers 10 times they may have been able to win a time or two. Henry Clay did beat us and I give them props since they played us on our field, and I don't know how they lost to Lafayette, GRC and Scott County, maybe they got a little too high after that week four win. Turnovers put SK behind the eight ball, four total turnovers, two on special teams helped HC score 14 of thier points.. Just like their game against St. X, once the Devils got to the 2nd level they were hard to deal with. I think SK started to really click the next week after trailing 14-0 to Conner, after that they went crazy, going on a 140-0 run against their opponents.

 

I think HC's speed would have proven too much for Ryle and I think the Raiders would have the nod over Manual but a coin flip would probably give you better odds on picking a winner.
