Highlands and Trinity now tied at 19!

Featured Replies

Trinity getting ready to go on a three year run. Mark it down.

Who takes the lead in 2010?

Neither......They will probably be tied at 20!

.....so 19 is the most amount of state championships by any team in the commonwealth of Kentucky?

Just wanted to get that straight.

Later.

Well Highlands won quite a few MYTHICAL State Championships before the official State Championships were recorded and I believe that was before Trinity was even thought of. But as we all know MYTHICAL doesnt count. Just ask CF. 20n10

Highlands claims three "mythical" state titles prior to 1959, when the state playoff system was put in place.

I suspect that some may say these pre-1959 titles shouldn't count (perhaps the Trinity fans think this??? :D), but going by that logic there has never been an NCAA Division I-A (FBS) football champion, since Division I-A has never had a playoff system. I don't think anyone really believes that Division I-A has never had a football champion; along these same lines, pre-1959 "mythical" titles should be counted in KY prep football, since there was no playoff system back then. Thus, Highlands has won 22 state football titles to date.

Neither.
