  1. Conner is not bad. NKY 6A is improved greatly from last year, with maybe the exception of BC. Conner will not stop Sk's running game. Sk may not stop Conner's multi-attack. SK 45-35
  2. Not a chance...24? As much as Cooper has improved from last year, Ryle has improved the same. Big stats for the Raiders Friday night in Union.
  3. That is my fault. Some_guy was implying that there was not any speed in NKY. I was simply trying to defend SK by using Highlands as an example. But SK has speed too. So do a few other schools in NKY.
  4. Holmes is 4-0 against Lloyd, Cooper, Bellevue, Bourbon...and with probable wins against PC and Franklin Co., 6-0. Then they will lose to Dixie by 4+ TD's. I think NCC's and Beechwood's programs have earned a little respect over the years and should be ranked ahead of Holmes. But I guess we can give them the benefit of the doubt but they are fortunate to be playing in 4A this year.
  5. West is very good. But c'mon, their only legitimate contest has been Dixie.
  6. Highlands Ryle SK Conner Dixie CovCath Boone Campbell Co. NCC Beechwood 2,3,4 are to be determined, as well as 5 and 6. Everything else looks to be right. :thumb:
  7. When has HC every ran anywhere? From the sounds of the game, they were aided with fortunate turnovers and field position. I don't recall HC's speed being a factor in last years playoffs against NKY opponents. They obviously have a good football team and may have a shot at advancing far into the playoffs. But I don't remember any Lexington school ever, being able to compete with Louisville top tier teams. Maybe NKY is closer to Lex than you thought?? And Highlands would run circles around most Lexington schools! :dancingpa
  8. Things may be deceiving with a very good offensive line. Bardo's ability to run and scramble makes him more effective. He will help them win their district but a serious question may be answered soon...can the birds defend the pass against a quality opponent? :idunno:
  9. Who cares :thumb:...I understand that you were trying to make a point about living in Cooper's district, yet they have a catholic background and is expected to go to a catholic school....but who cares. CovCath will always get catholic or non-catholic players from all over NKY, thats life. This thread was about football. Congrats to Cov Cath Frosh on the enormous victory over the Camels.
  10. When AC was a freshman what was their freshman team like? The reason I ask, when Ryle's senior class were freshman, they went 2-7. Ryle plays very many juniors and one very talented soph in their varsity games. There is experience to gain and will be noticed throughout the season. Naturally, this depletes the junior depth on JV. In a great program, juniors dominate the JV field. Very seldomly does Ryle have the ability to field a Saturday morning team of junior starters. However with the strong junior class at Ryle, their depth and experience will continue to grow and success and recognition will happen very soon in Union. Last four Ryle freshman teams: 2-7, 7-1, 6-3, 3-0?? We may see fdifferent results far sooner than 2012.
  11. The freshman schedules are really thrown out of whack this year due to the small/large division pairings. Ryle frosh are huge. They had their way with Highlands on the ground. Equally, however, Highlands ran their textbook counter nearly all night just as efficiently. The dropped balls were a big deal Wednesday night. #7 for Highlands was impressive on both sides of the ball. Special teams the deciding factor...Highlands getting a holding call on a two point conversion, then #24 for Ryle returning the following kickoff to the house...
  12. I'm sorry for you if your son is the kicker but the opening play was a dirty move, but acceptable and enjoyable. The play was in between whistles. Kicks and punches are not part of football but happen. If they are not called, then usually the dirtiest/cheapest team will take advantage. To say that Ryle football has no class or discipline is outright insane. Elliot is a 15 year old loose cannon. He needs to be controlled but the storybook program from Ft. Thomas has no room to speak. Listen to the eye witnesses and those from the past as well!!
  13. Are you seriously crying about playing up two levels. Highlands has been great since HS football has been around. Their expectations are just as high as any program in the area and using the small school card is unbelievable...Last year they were beating teams by 50 and 60, if they don't this year, maybe their just not as good as you thought...wow, is that possible???
  14. Coach33, Ryle turned the balll over twice inside Cov's 25 yard line. Ryle had numerous big plays get called back for penalties as well. Ryle gave up 100's of yards in kickoff returns. Which team's game do you think had more flaws? I think the question is, if Ryle fixes some of those mistakes...what would have the score really been? What Cov Cath needs to do is figure out how to stop the run and how to utilize their qb effectively without getting him hurt.
  15. Manual scored only 8 points because they turned the ball over. Manual's offense moved the football well just couldn't finish drives. Highlands turned the ball over as well but it was never a drive killing or momentum killing error. If Ryle can limit giving up the big play and not turn the ball over, the game will be very close.
  16. As far as NKY is concerned, Pike is huge but Elliott already has a year of varsity football under his belt...and if either of those kids are under 200 pounds I would be really surprised.
  17. 7-Holy Cross 5-Ryle 3-Dixie 2-Gallatin Co. 1-Betsy Lan TB- Holy Crosse
  18. How does a qb out play a qb? I'm pretty sure that the qb plays against a defense. If the ND bound qb didn't throw as many touchdowns as bardo, you should be saying the Birds D is gonna be great...but thats for another thread. Conner's West is the best qb in NKY. He is a proven and accomplished qb. We'll just have to see how well he does without his main weapon from a year ago..:idunno:
  19. I agree with MT.. Track used to be considered a sport the winter and fall athletes would participate in to maintain or improve speed/endurance. But many, such as MT, find a home and sometimes ends up being their best or favorite sport. If you look at most state qualifying athletes in sprinting and jumping events, many of them play football in the fall. But how many basketball players do you see? How many soccer players do you see? These are the sports which ask them to "specialize". They are playing club soccer and AAU or open gym basketball. The only sport track should be losing athletes to is baseball, not club leagues...
  20. You aren't very enlightened and are very naive. NKY programs, Class 1 through 6, has had an abundance of athletes which match the likes of T,X, and Male. Every year there are big time football players in this area but they typically don't go to one school for sports, ie. T and X. Also Your short term memory must have failed you, Dixie over T in 2003 and Sk over Male in 2008.. It'll happen again
  21. 1. Trinity 2. Highlands 3. Bell County 4. Louisville Central 5. Ft. Campbell 6. NCC 7. Simon Kenton 7. Beechwood 9. Christian County 10. Breathitt County 11. Bullitt East 12. Hazard
