  1. No disputing that. They often do so people know where it's located. With the name change that won't be a problem. But it never was the official name. After talking to some people. I need to correct my previous post about how Deming came about. The Deming family did NOT donate the lane. They sold the land to the school. But, they would only sell it if they named it Deming. So the Robertson County school board had to buy the land and use the Deming name. I'm glad the county will finally get some recognition. Now maybe people will quit asking where Deming County is located.
  2. Unfortunately no. But if someone would win the powerball or mega millions I'm sure they would appreciate a donation to build one 7000 plus.
  3. The only wall of the gym that's completed is the west wall. Gym will be the last to be under roof. Probably by late April it will be capped off. Entire building is very impressive. Deming has only been know as Deming. That's the only name to have ever been on jersey's. At no time were they referred to as Mount Olivet Deming in the 90's. When the present school was built in 1927. The Deming family donated the land with the stipulation the school be called Deming. If it was not called Deming they weren't going to give the land to the Robertson County school system.
  4. I know I made a statement earlier about Clark's following.I will give credit were credit is due. It got progressively larger as they advanced. Very nice crowd for the Cards tonight. I wish they would have let their students onto the floor to celebrate. Police blocked them, the team had to come to them. Good Luck to Clark next week at Rupp represent the 10th well. The national anthem tonight was awesome!
  5. Deming has not played their final game just yet. At the earliest they could be in the new school by January 2013. Until they physically move into the new school the uniforms will say Deming. Once the move is made they will then be Robertson County. Only fitting they play as Deming until the move is made. I for one am glad it will be called Robertson County. As for the gym. The estimate given to me is it will seat between 1200-1400. Pretty nice design. Will be a nice site for All "A" Region and possible District tournaments. However, don't believe it will be large enough to host region as posted in another thread. Very happy for the people of Robertson as this will be an asset for the entire community.
  6. Four of the six (Apollo, Boone Co., North Laurel, and Johnson Central) to qualify for the Sweet 16 lost the finals of their district. Wonder if that is the most for one state tournament field?
  7. Montgomery's cheering section should have been on their side, not on the end zone. They had their cheering section in the same place it is at home games!!
  8. How about mid 2000s. I remember people commenting on the low turnout. Maybe they did in 1970 as well. Couldn't help you with that one as I was not born yet.
  9. My point was I disagree with GoldSunrise comment about Clark bringing big crowds. Never said anything about seating being a problem.
  10. Are you serious? For a school with their enrollment they bring very few. Has been like that for years. Granted they will turnout for the finals. But who wouldn't. I've seen their cheering section with less than 20 in it before. But I'm sure your going to use the long drive as the excuse. For their size Augusta and Deming will have nice followings.I know their much smaller so hard to compare. But, they will probably have a better percentage of their enrollment there than GRC. But you would never admitted to that because you would never give small schools like them any credit.
  11. Not all of them. Know the 9th is on Sunday and 16th is Monday. Not 100% but I think 6th and 7th is Saturday.
  12. Buckhorn had a great story back in 1988 and 1989. They had never been to the region. They go in both years and win the region. Pretty neat story for a small school.
  13. According to Silver Groves schedule per KHSAA website they have played 32 regular season games. My understanding is teams were allowed a total of 30 games this season. So are they ineligible for postseason play? Looks like someone dropped the ball on this.
  14. Deming vs Washington County game was scheduled for 11:45 in the morning. However, Washington County called today and said both their boys and girls teams would not be traveling due to impending weather.
  15. Big win for the Devils on the road tonight!
  16. I think what alot of the people don't understand is there is more to this than just a race. It's an event. Tailgating, all the exhibits, entertainment, etc. This is done to draw the crowd in early to help relieve some of the traffice problems. We left home around 9:00 to get to the track. Some of the first timers that went with us thought I was crazy for wanting to leave that earlier. They soon realized and understood why you need to leave early. Our 1 hr 45 minute trip was about 3 hours. But, that's what we expected. Like some stated earlier it's not like going to a Reds, Bengals, or UK game where you just drive in an hour or less before the game. Plus, you have to be prepared to park 3 or 4 miles from the track. That's just part of a NASCAR event. I've been to Bristol and had to park 5 miles from the track. For thoses that left at 2:00 or later to get to the race, I have no sympathy. Not meaning this to sound mean at all. But, it seemed like there were alot of first time race goers and I just don't think they understood what it's all about. I talked to some and they said they will be better prepared next time. As for leaving the track the key thing is patience. That's at all the tracks I've been to. If you think you will walk to your car and drive right out of the track think again. Some were complaing about waiting an hour to get out. I say you were lucky to get out that quick. I'm sure they will get this problem solved and that it will be much better next year. I know I plan on going early and enjoying the whole experience.
  17. Just got back from Myrtle Beach last Wednesday. Another great vacation. This was my 35th time in 36 years. We took the kids to Wonder Works and we all had a great time. My nephew and I did the zip line at Broadway. Had some great meals at Nance's in Murrels Inlet, Yamato, Burro Loco (twice), and J. Edwards. We ate in the room a couple of nights. Golf was great even though I wasn't. We already have our reservations made for next year.
  18. If your looking for great ribs. Go to J. Edwards and be sure to get the onion loaf.
  19. I'll back Mustang on this one. I've heard the exact same reason as well.
  20. Plan on being there for all the night sessions and Saturday.
  21. That is really neat. It's a good way for the younger guys to learn about the history and tradition they are upholding. It ashame other schools don't do this.
  22. Just goes to show no matter the record if you get hot at the right time anything can happen. You got to love March Madness!!!!
  23. Shelby Valley returns to the Sweet 16 this year with a 13-17 record. I know there have been others to have losing records. Rowan Co. and Scott Co. in the 1980's went with losing records. Does anyone know of any others? Also, what's the worst record ever for a Sweet 16 team?
  24. Congrats to this young man. Very nice player. I'm sure in a couple of years we will be congratulating him on 2000 points!!!
