A Date With History

Featured Replies

The boy's basketball team at Dixie has a date with history on Friday. Members of the 1947 and 1957 regional championship teams from Dixie have been invited to enjoy lunch at school with the 2011 championship team. A very cool way to kickoff the state tournament festivities the school has planned and bring all these champions together.

That is outstanding!

There was a nice article in the Enquire paper this morning. It's great the team has invited the former teams for lunch. Coach Chevalier likes the number 7. We have a family member who attended a reunion at the school in 2007, and was very impressed with the school and coaches.

Agreed outstanding and if possible, could you please take and post some pictures and give us the players names from those past teams. What a thrill for both the kids and the gentlemen from the 47/57 teams. Nice move Dixie!

Wasn't the legendary Woody Robinson part of the 57' team? That's a great idea. Love the way Dixie is truly embracing this great accomplishment.

That is really neat. It's a good way for the younger guys to learn about the history and tradition they are upholding. It ashame other schools don't do this.

You are correct. Howard Stacey and the late Joe Stark and Jim Shumate also were members of the '57 cagers. Where's BGPs historian Pat Veep when you need him?

That's really cool. I don't think enough schools do enough to keep their alumni players involved with the modern team. And you don't have to be regional champions to stay connected. I'm glad to see Dixie Heights making this move.
