Sorry, been away awhile. Rowdy, thanks for your answers, that answers a lot of my questions. The girl I mentioned definately was better off at Manual since she is interested in sports journalism. Plus she said she wanted boys. We were happy for her, it was just I thought if it were the other way around, folks would have raised an eyebrow. She actually played two games for us, then her 3rd game was for you guys, oddly enough against us. It was weird to say the least.

Marty hasn't change much in the looks dept either since I left in '83. Good luck to him and St X in the future. A lot of these guys have been around for forever it seems, and there is quite a bit of "changing of the guards" lately, so to speak. Maybe, just maybe, those long tenures are the reasons X has so much success in 'most' sports.

Rowdy red ram or ram2003, let me stray slightly off topic here about the grades issue in this thread. I thought every kid in the feeder schools makes it in REGARDLESS of grades. Is that wrong? Then after that, they pick the catholic school kids they want, or do they also pick from non feeder, public schools as well. I'm curious since we lost a girl after school had started to you guys last year, and she wasn't a 4.0 student, but maybe top third of the class of 200 girls. She was/is a great athlete in a few sports however, one of which you guys dominate. Back on topic, I didn't see mention above of losing Aaron Cosby from last year, or was that the year before? SOmetimes my memory fails. He was a very good player for you guys.

This interest me as my daughter just injured herself last week on a turf field, tearing her Lateral Collateral Ligament on Assumptions turf field. She just scored (lacrosse) and planted her foot to change directions in order to stay out of the crease, then pop. I assume it was just a freak thing at this point, however the doctor did say that is an unusuall ligament to injure. The bright side is that it heal quicker than the ACL or MCL. If ya gotta pick one of the three...:thumb: It is a rubberized surface (turf turds) so you think it has a lot of give, but maybe turf still doesn't give as much as natural grass does. It is slick though, due to the length of the fake grass blades.

I say it will come down to QB play for Trinity this year, which is the position seperating them from others right now. They have had great one for several years now, and Stein stepped up much better than I anticipated. I don't know what they have coming up this year at QB, any thoughts from T fans? PS Tim Phillips still scares me more than anyone, just as much as Brian did at QB.

It was a very moving funeral service for Kathy today. The church was full. Robed judges filled the 1st 8-9 rows, and formed a processional as the casket left the church for the last time. Bailifs and court officers were in uniform as well. Students, mostly from catholic schools, many still in uniform, filled the pews. She was very loved and appreciated by more people than I ever imagined. She was always just another parent on the sideline to me, as we all look the same in the bleachers. But clearly she was much more than that. Today filled me with regret, because there was something wonderful I wanted to tell her last season about her daughter, and just shrugged it off thinking I'd tell her in a few months. That will bother me to no end. Hug your kids more, you just never know.

Agreed. Talk really is cheap, has to happen on the field. I'll take a wait and see approach.

How does this work for a kid going to a seperate middle school building from the high school he will attend, such as parochial grade school and catholic high schools? Those who favor kids playing up, are you in favor here as well, or is there a difference?

I'm not saying I need tons of scoring. My daughter plays field hockey, and led her team in scoring last season, with a whopping 7 goals. Half of our games usually have at least 1 team scoring ZERO, so I get the defensive angle. Fast pitch is very interesting, it's just not always exciting. Most non-parent or non-coach fans won't be looking at bunt coverage, delay steal etc. I just happened to see four of five shutouts, so maybe my logic is skewed.

I think it due to having larger schools, and KY have so many counties with their own schools. Ohio has many more people with fewer counties. Every Ohio school my daughter played field hockey against last season had 2500+ students.

Here's a view from a casual fan only, as my daughter plays another sport. I went to my 1st fast pitch game a few years back, and thought WOW!!!, that's amazing. I was mesmerized by the pitcher, so I went back for another. But after the 5th game, I realized I only saw maybe 10 hits, and half of those never left the infield. So I got kinda BORED, even though I was cheering for my daughters school. My sister played slow pitch for the same high school in the 70's and 80's, and it really was more enjoyable to me. I know it would be different if my kid played, and I loved watching fast pitch on TV, but they entertained you in other ways. But it will never go back, so I wish ALL levels of fast pitch would look at ways to make the game more interesting. Major league Baseball did by lowering the pitching mound 5" in 1969, to help the pitchers out. That worked.

I know she signed with a powerhouse, but can you imagine the effect of her signing with a local school, preferably my Wildcats? I wonder why more don't, when they could make the program a success almost all by themsleves?

This always confused me. There is such passion for single class basketball, with all the "little" guys thinking they can knock off the "big" guys. Which is awesome! But in football, there is more of a defeatist attitude. Is it just the numbers? Or is it that we are a basketball state with a huge history of the "little" guys winning? Other than that, I like it the way it is, but think it will eventually change as that is the way the rest of the country has gone.

This myth has already been debunked. The attendance was down at first, but it has since rebounded according to a local radio guy who calls IN games on air.

Phillips scares me (X fan) to death every time he gets the ball. A lot like Brohm did when he stepped back to pass. Only one more year of that...:cry:

Billy Clyde had 20 players on his last TAMU team, counting all the walkons. They are great for stepping up the quality of practice, plus they may step up big in a game now and then, like Ravi Moss did. I love all the walkons.

We (the St Raphael Giants) do send a lot of great players to X, though I wish we could have sent the Dutton boys there as well. Awesome kids!:thumb:

Apparently I'm no math guy either. I may have gone back another year and picked up the big blowout. Bottom line, X needs to win the big one, or I'll be sorely disappointed....again.

X should be stronger this year than last. In reality, X is outscoring Trintiy 3 to 2 in points the past 2 years, over four games. But T wins the ones that matters. :cry:
