Which team is it that you are aiming for to be listed as a champ of one of these classes? I am guessing that is your real initiative here.

Holmes is 5A. Would have been a shame if they were runners-up in a class system. They would have never got the recognition that they deserved. Thank God for the Sweet 16!

Let me say without a doubt, that Kentucky will never go to classification in basketball.

Mason County is 3A in football. Maybe they'd elect to play up in basketball...

I look for them to go to 4 classes soon. 6 is way to many. That will put the final 4 of all classes at rupp. Will still be the sweet 16, but will have the final 4 of Class A, 2A, 3A, and 4A. Will still be something great to see and give these other schools an opportunity to have a state championship. This will move the All A tourney to the end of the year instead of in the middle of it. Give all the teams the option if they want to play up or not and then go with what you have left.

Hopefully the KHSAA will never go to this route though. It makes winning a state championship less coveted considering you didn't beat the best teams in the state to win a title.

Owensboro isn't in 2A. Owensboro Catholic is, and they certainly wouldn't have won it.
