Owensboro isn't in 2A. Owensboro Catholic is, and they certainly wouldn't have won it.

Well I'm assuming all classes would be the same for baskeball since they go on enrollment.

 

Who were some of the top 2a programs this year? I think that may have been the weakest class if basketball were classified.

If there were six classes, these schools would be among the contenders ...

 

6A ... Scott County, Male, Ballard, Manual, Dunbar, Pleasure Ridge Park

5A ... Bryan Station, Holmes, Jeffersontown, Owensboro

4A ... Lexington Catholic, Covington Catholic, Muhlenberg North

3A ... Mason County, Paducah Tilghman, Adair County, Central

2A ... DeSales, Shelby Valley, Corbin, Bardstown, St.Henry, Covington Holy Cross

A ... University Heights, Paintsville, Hazard, Elliott County, June Buchanan, Gallatin County, Lexington Christian, Rose Hill

Why do you think that no one would attend? There would be just as many schools involved. Do you think the administrators and coaches would choose not to take the week off school and attend? Most of their schools aren't participating anyway. What makes you think the sweet 16 always produces the best as the champion. I would think the match-ups throughout the tournament have alot to do with who prevails in the end--especially when two of the better teams match up early in the tournament. Many times there are teams in the sweet 16 who couldn't win the district in another region. jmo

With all the conversation about so many good teams being in one region and only one team making the Sweet 16, it would look like more people would be for classing basketball.

I look for them to go to 4 classes soon. 6 is way to many. That will put the final 4 of all classes at rupp. Will still be the sweet 16, but will have the final 4 of Class A, 2A, 3A, and 4A. Will still be something great to see and give these other schools an opportunity to have a state championship. This will move the All A tourney to the end of the year instead of in the middle of it. Give all the teams the option if they want to play up or not and then go with what you have left.

I think that Elliott county wins the class 1A.

I think you should have a state champion in every classification and then have the Champions all play against each other at Rupp of the Overall Title. A State Title is a State Title. I am for the class system. Some teams never have a chance at all in winning a state title. I just thinks this gives everyone a chance. How ofter could little Leslie County win the boys sweet 16? Maybe some day they may have a team good enough to win the State Class 2A Title. If 47 other states are doing this, there must be some benefits to this. And wouldnt this be an incinitive to make coaches work harder as well. If a person knows they have a chance, they will work harder and put more effort into what they are doing. People that dont have a chance a lot of times quit.

I don't think most have ever really looked at it. But here is what we have had in the last 40 years:11th-7 state champs---7th-7state champs---6th-6 state champs---3rd-5 state champs. Thats 25 out of 40 champs from 4 Regions. So you could see why they may go to classes.

I'm not sure how it would do what you say ? Do you realise that 32 of the last 40 State Champs have come from only 7 Regions ? That leaves 9 Regions that may not agree with you.:thumb:

It really doesn't matter to me, but how can you say with certainty? I venture to say five years ago if you would have said that there would be six classes of football, most people would have said ,it will not happen.
