Ryle senior pitcher Kirsten Allen threw her 14th career perfect game and the Raiders beat visiting Notre Dame 14-0 in five innings Tuesday evening in a fast-pitch softball game in Union.

Allen already has the state record for perfect games, and her 34 career no-hitters are also a state mark.

Tuesday, she tied the state record, set by North Laurel's Becky Abner from 1997-2002, with her 86th career shutout. Allen, however, was just happy with the win.

She's amazing! :thumb:

I know she signed with a powerhouse, but can you imagine the effect of her signing with a local school, preferably my Wildcats? I wonder why more don't, when they could make the program a success almost all by themsleves?

She is more than incredible. You don't have the pleasure of seeing someone so dominate in a sport very often. There was another story on the field that game. Annie Wehry for ND has had ACL surgery twice on the same knee her freshman and sophomore years. Then this year she had to have it cleaned out. Not much fun for a young lady and no one would have faulted her for moving on--she is an academic wiz! Not her, she just worked her butt off to get the leg in shape and....she went out for ND basketball and due to some new policies at ND (no juniors on JV) wasn't selected for the squad. She decided not to give up and give fastpitch a try and is a starter and getting better everyday. Two incredible young ladies on the field that day:thumb:

Annie is indeed one special young lady, and I am looking forward to seeing her play on the diamond real soon. Coming back from one major knee surgery is tough enough, but then having to do it two more times, WOW! Really glad that at least one coach at NDA cares enough about the students at the school, to give her a chance!

BTW from what Annie has told me, Centre College is where she would like to attend college at, but remember she is just a Junior at NDA. Smart, athletic and beautiful, yup, that Annie Wehry.
