They are all relatively close to each other, except maybe Desales and definately Holy Cross. There aren't as many parochial schools in the far south end where Holy Cross is located, so a small pool to draw from. Mercy - South East ish Assumption - East (Highlands, 3 miles from Mercy) Sacred Heart - Further East (near St mathews) Presentation - Down Town Trinity - East (St Mathews, a mile from Sacred Heart) St X - Centrally located, bordering East and South (I consider Poplar Level Road the line seperating the two), 6-7 miles from Trinity Holy Cross - South End (farthest away from the rest) Desales - South End, but a little more centrally located.

Funny. My daughter was deeply disappointed it was in Louisville. A few years ago, Mercy all but shut down and 99% of the student body (minus a few buzzkills) rented busses to go on a road trip for the state tourney. They by far had the best turnout that year. And a pretty good one this year too!

I recommend tailgaiting, or just getting there earlier. I know I need a good two hour headstart just to get in by kickoff for X vs T.

I have seen the UK basketball team start seniors who shouldn't be in the game, against competition too tuff for them. If it happens at that level, it just seems odd it can't happen here. Especially when the guy has been starting for you lately. The score was 56-0 with the "best" QB, what would the score have been if the Senior started? This is about the score that most predicted before the game, so why did it matter? IMO, it would have just been best to start the senior, and bring on the junior as early as you wanted after that, even in the 2nd or 4rd series. Bringing him in down 56-0 is even more debateable. You should have left your junior in at that point to get more snaps.

I know nothing about Henry. But I do believe Cebtral was the toghest opponent St X has faced all year. Hard hitters, lots of effort, regardless of score.

Big Easy, it's gonna be hard to spin this one. Your SR could have at least gone in for the first few series if nothing else. St X even subs QB in the 1st qtrs, regardless of score. I just can't see a logical reason to go the route he did.

On one hand I agree. On the other, he has six state titles. Maybe they're part and parcel. I did have to replay that part to see if I saw that correctly. It was different. I also would have liked to see more on tailgating. They just showed that one long shot from the helicopter, but most folks probably didn't know what they were looking at.

Yes! That's very impressive on their part, probably the best game of the tourney. But a close loss is still a loss to pollsters. Mercy was highly ranked before the state tourney, #3 in the nation, based on their recent history and success. Then they beat several top teams in the US. I know ND and SHA were ranked in the top 30ish, but NCC was not ranked. Sometimes it takes time for a program to build up credibility in polls. In the ESPN poll for example, the #1 team lost to the #49 team, and only dropped one spot, due to their strong history. I think they should have dropped further. It's generally believed that the single reviewer in their poll is not a knowledgable as the prep volleyball pollster - yet! It takes awhile to learn teams, competition levels, etc. Mercy played a tough national schedule as well. They beat more top 50 teams than any other team in the nation. They smoked #2 at the time, not giving up more than 15 in any game. They lost to a top 10 team at the time, and then avenged that loss twice later in the season. They also had 6 or 7 D1 signees last season, and have several more this year, which helps national recognition as well. So, I think all that goes into national rankings. Hopefully NCC can get ranked for next season, and build from there. I think KY is becoming a national player in this sport. I'll say it here and now. I hope my Jags get to the mountain top again next season, but Sacred Heart has to be favored to win it all next year. Mercy and Assumption both lost 6+ Seniors, and SHA didn't lose much from their 2nd place team, plus they have a great coach.

Wow. Living in Louisville I wasn't aware of all the issues at CCH, with the fan boycott (update thread) or issues with the coach. Doing that to your Sr starter, on Sr day is about as low as it gets, imo. I can't imagine what kind of message he is trying to send, but whatever it is, I seriously doubt it works. Hang in there CCH fans. It can only get better.

I just watched it delayed, and was very impressed. I'm glad they showed the religious importance to each school as well, especially my Tigers. I was hoping political correctness wouldn't affect that. This has to be great for parochial school students, to get a real glimpse of each school.

Mercy volleyball was ranked #1 in the US by prepvolleyball.com, up from 3rd in the last ranking. That site is the most respected in terms of VB rankings. ESPN has them at #3 for the moment, but that could still change. With several 1 loss teams at the top, it came down to SOS and quality of the team that provided the loss. Mercy's only loss was to Assumption, a loss it avenged twice later in the season. I can't post a link to the rankings because that is premium, but I got a text from a player with the details re: Mercy as she learned them from her coach. ^ To answer that, let me tell you about myself. My current TV is 22 years old, and only the 3rd TV in my lieftime of 43 years. We had a B&W unitl I was in high school, in the 80's. I am only getting a new one due to the change, and moving this one (with a convertor) to another room. I also have never had cable or dish, and still use an antenna. I also have never played a video game that didn't require a quarter, and I was a master back then. We just flat out don't watch much TV. Even my teen daughter only watches an hour a week, two hours tops. We're too busy with sports right now. I'm already fat, and can't imagine how I'd look if I watched more TV.

A HHGregg salesman told me just to get the 720, that's what he got for himself. He said there is little or none as far as 1080 broadcast signals in Louisville. He didn't expect them for years, even after the February chang over. He said all the TV's in their store are using a 720 signal, even on the 1080 TV's. The only exceptions was if I wanted to use it for gaming, which I do not. I'm using an antenna, so I'm thrilled I will be getting triple the channels I have now, when I finally pull the trigger. While I was there, another customer told me he was watching his LCD for months thinking he had hi def, only to realize that he didn't even have a hi def signal coming into his house. He said his pic was that good, hi def or not.

Yeah, but Phillips seems to alternate good and bad games with X. He's due a good one, and that worries me.

Assumption did lose a very vital player this season, during the 1st Mercy game. Sarah Rogers, DS tore her ACL in the game, and she was a very strong leader with this team. They really weren't the same after that, IMO.

I believe you. I was just watching the stat tracker on KHSAA.com, and that was even exciting! I only live 2 minutes from Bellarmine, but I didn't want to fight the crowds that night. I guess I'm getting old!

NCC would have given them a tough match if they played the way they played Mercy. I'd swap those two.

Assumption didn't make the tourney, and you have them that high?

Congrats to the coach. From what I hear, Mercy-NCC was the best game of the tourney. Would have been great for it to be the final.

I don't know to the above. I was watching the live stat feed, not the actual game. I would have to think Garvey (Mercy) has to be odds on fav for COY unless there is someone out in the state who brought a team back from the brink of disaster.

I'm very impressed. Mercy is not your typical team, ie, they're short. They've been outsized by nearly every opponent, and play a different style of ball. When they went to Florida, the girls were huge, and people were laughing at our team, A team who went on to demolish the #2 team in the US. Awesome job Jaguars!!
