Score was 42-0 at halftime and over after the first quarter. Deuce Finch is the real deal. He had several runs where he looked to be down and then would spin off 3 or 4 defenders and be in the end zone. I was very impressed with St. X.

I must say I thought it didn't show much class that Young of CCH took all of the snaps before the game with the first team and then right before the seniors walked out he's told he wouldn't be starting. The coach really needs to quit playing mind games with his players. I have no problem with Erpenbeck (junior) being in there but you don't do that to a senior who has been your starter since Isler went out.

There were several CCH parents who weren't very happy and agreed it was tasteless to do that to a senior on his SENIOR DAY when he had done nothing the week before to lose his starting position. Add to that he came in when CCH was getting blown out and it's the 4th quarter and it makes it an even bigger insult.

I am at work and was wondering how the game progressed. Can anyone provide any stats or big plays made by either side to give me insight into the game and how it progressed? Much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Score was 14-0 just 3 minutes in to the game. St X scored I believe on the 4th or 5th play of the game on a slant pass.

CCH first play of the game was a fumble. St X got the ball in their territory and scored I believe on the second play on a run by Finch.

It was all down hill from there. CCH struggled to get a first down and started from their own 20 after every kickoff. St X has a very good kicker from what I saw.

It was 28-0 after the first quarter with two touchdowns by Finch and one by I believe #12 (Anderson?) or whoever the back up RB is. Very quick kid.

Second quarter St X added on two more scores on a run by Finch and a QB keeper. 42-0 at halftime so I decided to leave.

Couldn't tell you what happened in the second half but I assume the scoring was done by the reserves of St X.

Pretty much as expected

Sounds to me that among common opponents the Birds and Tigers are very equal.....;)

I am not going to make a comment about the game, or about what you have posted except to say Thank you!

Thanks, Eta Rho...I really appreciate the insight! Go tigers! That CBS film special was something else! Really, really high class for both programs. Would have been really cool if they did a double feature and came back to cover the rematch!

Hopefully, the rematch will be similar, but Trinity is too good of a program with too many weapons to be shut out again...I say shut out...because according to the nfl footage and the generous BGP pictures that MASSIVE collision on the goal line where trinity "scored" was not a touchdown and called by a ref from 7 yards behind the play with no angle to see the football.

Trinity will come back with a totally new offensive game plan, play their most athletic 15 players both ways and cut down on their turnovers...it should make for a fun game.

I just hope that the saint x staff can try to "predict" what the shamrocks will do to add wrinkles to the offense...like when they rolled out of the pocket in the 07 state game and setup the quarterback outside the ends (as a passing pocket) so the X defensive lineman would have to beat their man (as they did in the 07 regular season game) find the quarter back and get to him before he finds his receiver in the flat...a great game plan change and helped render the saint x defensive lineman ineffective (180 degree turn from the regular season game). Really excited to see this game. Saint X needs to start watching offensive game film from the 1920's up through the texas tech spread offense to be ready for the trinity offensive changes!

OR just man up and physically beat the man across from you on every play!

Should be a classic...hope the weather holds up so we have a big turn out.

Just think, in a few years, Trinity and Saint X will get to meet in BG for the state final and the KHSAA will get to collect about 50% less revenue year in and year out...I estimate that the usual fan attendance at a state championship between these two schools to average 20K, while only 10K will drive to BG. Therefore, at ($8???) per ticket, in ten years the KHSAA will lose $800,000 just in ticket sales! Not a very smart move, economically speaking.

Probably for another thread though, but I thought I would stick it out there as food for thought.

CovCath needs to remember the record now is 0-0 and pull it together for the playoffs. Good luck Colonels..."with a spirit that will not die"...you have to believe in it!

Thank you for saying what needs to be said. It was sad to see this happen to Young.

Wow. Living in Louisville I wasn't aware of all the issues at CCH, with the fan boycott (update thread) or issues with the coach. Doing that to your Sr starter, on Sr day is about as low as it gets, imo. I can't imagine what kind of message he is trying to send, but whatever it is, I seriously doubt it works.

Hang in there CCH fans. It can only get better.

What happened with Young today is just one among a list of many things that this coach has done which displays his poor taste and decision making as a coach. Young has started every game since Isler went out with his injury and on Senior Day of all days to decide to start Erpenbeck only minutes before the game begins is shameful.

But on a positive note. 0-0! Playoffs begin a week from today for you guys. Keep your heads up and play your hearts out. We know you can do it :)

Fixed the math for you -- still a significant amount though, but you can't expect the KHSAA to cater to just X and T though.
