The Killing

Recommended Posts

Perhaps the most wasted hour of my entire life was spent watching last night's episode. It accomplished absolutely nothing until the final scene revealing Rosie's presence at the casino. Ridiculous to have only three characters appear in one of the final three episodes. Thoroughly disappointed.

I'm still holding true with Belko.

I personally have a tough time seeing how they go on to another season with the same characters. That's a tough thing to pull off in a season long murder mystery type of show.

Not that I didn't enjoy last night's episode, but it reeked of filler to me. Stalled the momentum.

I could see multiple seasons, with each season being a different case. Linden could be the main character. That would mean some of the characters would have to change, but some could stick around. I don't know.

I haven't watched the new episode yet. I hope to get around to it tonight. My wife, my baby and myself have all been sick for the past few days, so it's been a miserable time at my house.

Is Richmond being framed for this?

I still think Terri is involved. Could Stan Larsen be involved?

I think this episode makes it look like it was Richmond and the show usually leaves you with the obvious lead but then leads you elsewhere.

What about Gwen...Richmond's assistant?

No way it's Richmond. A show like this is not likely to reveal the killer till the absolute last episode.

I'm with LABS, it's Gwen. She knew about his affairs with escorts, and disposed of Rosie out of jealousy and/or to keep his campaign from being sunk. A mayoral candidate sleeping with an escort period would deep-six you, let alone an underage one. Of course, his campaign would still be down the tubes due to obstruction of justice.

One criticism I have with the episode and really the show in general, is that it's so telegraphed that no one who is paying attention should ever be shocked at the reveal at the end. The moment they started talking about the guy being obsessed with drowning, you had to know it was him. I can't remember if they ever mentioned how his wife died (if they ever said drowning then this is even more proving my point), but it wasn't hard to put two and two together. Then when the escort told the partner to come to the corner, easy to guess it was a Darren Richmond campain poster.

I know Richmond's wife died because of a drunk driver, but was her car knocked in the water? If so, that is what he could have been talking about to the prostitute. She said he didn't seem like a killer, but sad.

The other cardinal sin of a series like this? You don't reveal the killer at the end of the season. Infuriating. Basically, they tread water for most of the season. They spent so much time with the red herring of Ahmet, had one episode that was a complete throwaway, and gave absolutely no payoff.

The lack of payoff aside, I enjoyed the twist but that is still lazy writing. The partner really thinks that it's not going to come to light that the evidence was faked?

I was disappointed in the ending. I was really waiting to see somebody was framing Richardson, but didnt expect to see a cliffhanger.

BTW, if she was being chased behind the gas station all the way to the park...who sped off in the car? Was there somebody else in the car?

I dont think it was Belko. The reason for him shooting (?) Richardson at the end is that he was secretly in love with Rosie and wanted to get revenge. IMO
