The Killing

I also liked the linking of the dad's past to crime. I'm betting next week's show will bring it more into play.

Who was the guy the Dad got the money from? And was the money given as a gift from an old acquaintance, or is perhaps the Dad being hired to do criminal work of some sort?

Still suspicious of the fiance. But also growing slowly more suspicious of the guy always hanging around with Rosie's dad. Judging by the previews, he's going to become a more focal point of the show. He's also listed as one of the leading characters when you view the show's Cast & Credits. I'm willing to bet it's either him or the fiance. But how or why I do not know.

I'm guessing his uncle or a close friend (business partner... AKA the mob) of his dad who I assume is no longer living.

I have also thought about those two, but I have thought about the whole cast...

Do you think the money was a gift with no strings attached, or is Dad expected to do a favor for the guy who gave him the money?

I think a gift because of his daughter, but that would be an interesting twist...

I think there are always strings attached when deals like that go down. JMO

I think the current mayor might be behind it. I don't think he did it, but I think he was involved in some way.

Didn't get to watch Sunday's episode until Tuesday night, but that very thought entered my mind. But I'm thinking the whole political deal is a sort of red herring.

Gun to my head, I'm saying it's either the fiance or the friend of Rosie's father. The former just looks like a bad guy. The latter is really appealing, since we said that he has an informant from Rosie's school. Not to mention he's pretty close to the family. What was he doing changing the kid's sheets anyway? That guy gets more and more suspicious to me as time passes.

We shall see...

No doubt. I just think the political story is the biggest red herring of them all. Haven't watched last night's episode yet, but hope to tonight.

This isn't a bin Laden thread?

I'm not sure where the show is going now. I'm definitely interested. It certainly seems like the fiance killed Rosie and the husband helped get rid of the body, but now it seems like the show may be going beyond the mystery of Rosie's murder...

...then again, it could be that things aren't what they seem.

One thing is for sure, the teacher is in some trouble with the dad...

90% sure it's Mr. Larsen's friend/co-worker. I started thinking of him last week when he mentioned having a friend at Rosie's school who was providing him with info. Then, that very quote was repeated in Sunday night's review of "last time on The Killing." The discovery that Mr. Larsen was involved with the mob also insinuates that the friend was in on it too (they had discussed this previously). Also, the guy is playing a more prominent role in each episode.

Not sure about motive. A guess is the guy found out about Rosie's involvement with the teacher (via his school insider) & became upset. Perhaps they were going to run off or something? Or perhaps some racial motivations? Dad's friend then kills Rosie & attempts to frame the teacher. Either way, with his mob history, he would know how to kill & get away with it.

At first, I thought it was Linden's fiance. But now, I'm almost certain it's Mr. Larsen's friend. The political storyline, as I mentioned before, is a red herring. The Killing has thus far been a very grim story. Having a close family friend be the killer would make it that much more so.

Maybe they're trying to suck Mr. Larsen back into his old lifestyle. If the obvious isn't true, then I have no idea who killed her. And, I'm far from convinced that the fiance killed Rosie. For a show that leads with "Who killed Rosie Larsen?", having that mystery solved seems unlikely at this point. I hate to venture any guess as to what will happen this Sunday. I enjoy the show though. It and Game of Thrones are the only two I watch regularly now.
