Voice of Reason
I have never seen the NKU basketball facilities, but I have a hard time believing they are worse than some of the dumps which exist in the OVC. NKU's basketball arena is new and state of the art. Similar to the Cintas Center where Xavier plays.
tcjkbt
Doubtful. You can't just move up to Division I in basketball only ... the other sports have to follow. I did not know this. It seems that Villanova, for instance, played lower division football while playing top division basketball. But again, I'm not sure. I believe that Bellarmine already plays D1 in lacrosse but I could be wrong. I don't know how many other NCAA sports the Knights participate in. UKMustangFan
NKU soccer and basketball arenas would most likely be the best in the conference in their respective sports. Bank of Kentucky Center is about as nice an arena as you'll find.
tcjkbt
Villanova still plays Division 1 football. Division 1 or FCS? I remember them being classified as I-AA (like OVC schools) in the not too distant past. A couple of kids from Trinity played there.
statmanhensley
Villanova still plays DI football, but it is in fact DI FCS, or as some remember it DI-AA...same thing.

A couple of kids from Trinity played there. It's still Division 1. Just a lower classification. Big difference between FBS (1-A) and FCS (1-AA). Also a big difference between 1AA and D2. doubledeuce
I've heard in a round about way that Bellarmine might be considering this, too, for basketball. They are definitely exploring a possible move to D1.
UCRN
Isn't there a season ticket/attendance requirement to be D1?

Clyde
Something change since November?? In April Villanova should find it out if they're moving up from FBS to the Big East.
Clyde
NKU would need 7 men's and 7 women's varsity sports to be D1. Do they have them?
Clyde
Isn't there a season ticket/attendance requirement to be D1? That is probably just a football requirement.

The Bank of Kentucky Center and the soccer stadium is very nice.
