Hatz
Egypt is free. What happens next is the big question... Free, but led right now by the military. Our idea of freedom that we are blessed with is often far beyond the idea of freedom for much of this world.

SSC
Things will get more interesting now. If I was a betting man (just kidding I love betting) I'd bet this doesn't end well for the revolutioners.
sportsfan41
WOW, I wonder what the role the US played in all of this unfolding.

"Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss" Not sure if one dictator is worse than another.
75center
I had some friends over there, but came home about a year ago. Mission field. Our daughter was supposed to spend a few months at the American University at Cairo for her major, thank God she changed it to a minor and didn't have to meet the requirement. woodsrider
The sky is falling! The problem is Egypt is no where close to ready to have an election or even a democracy. The only viable party right now is the MB. So what you are now left with is the military running things and that's never good for anyone. I am not saying Mubarak should have stayed in power but the statement that Egypt is free is far from reality.
Jim Schue
I found the comment in the earlier thread (Clyde?) about the demonstrations comparing Mubarak's intractability/cluelessness to Ceaucescu an intriguing one when contemplating Mubarak's ultimate fate. woodsrider
Not ready for a democracy? How so? So their ready for an election tomorrow? Or next week? or even in 6 months? They don't have a constitution or even a viable second party. Egypt has a long way to go and to say they are free at this point is very premature.
